... to ask for book recommendations?

I'll have a good bit of down time over the xmas holidays and new year, so time to do some reading! Any recommendations on new books you've really enjoyed over the past year?

Anything by Rosie Thomas, she writes in a variety of ways and each book is very different, but excellent.
The Kashmir Shawl, Iris &Ruby and White would be good ones to start with.

I came on to say Eleanor Olliphant too! For people who liked it, it found it quite similar to A Kind of Intimacy by Jenn Ashworth.

I enjoyed Hot Milk over the summer

I loved Eleanor Oliphant too, great book but quite short. If you want something to really get stuck into The Goldfinch by Donna Tarrt is amazing as pp said, I have also read it 3 times!

The Secret River Kate Grenville. Absolutely loved it.
