8 month old advent calendar

A woman on my social media keeps posting pictures of her 8 month old eating their own advent calendar each day, chocolate all over her face.
I had a Shock moment to DH who thinks I'm being daft. So AIBU to think there is no reason to give an 8 month old chocolate for no real reason, or am I being a real scrooge and it's not a big deal at all?
Apparently 20% of primary school children are obese and that figure is increasing. Surely giving babies chocolate isn't going to improve that!

Disclaimer - I know this doesn't affect me in anyway, and is none of my business. Just curious as to people's opinions.

DD got a bag of chocolate buttons at Easter when she was 6 months, DS2 when he was 7 months. I checked with the HV with DS2, she said everyone should have chocolate at Easter! Xmas Grin They didn't have advent calendars until they were 2.

I’m a bit pearl clutchy about it but that’s because chocolate is on the list of things under 1s can’t have at all in Italy (because it’s bad for their tummys...genuine thing or old wives tale who knows?)

At 8m I think I was still only giving DS fruit, veg, and pasta or toast...I’m much more chilled now he’s a giant 20m old! He’s still not a chocolate bar though (though he’s probably had a choc chip biscuit or bite of croissant at some point)
