Telling boss about pregnancy

Posting here for traffic really.
I'm going to tell the boss today. I'm only 7 weeks and have severe morning sickness (spent weekend in hospital as a result of this), but do heavy lifting regularly for work. I'm going to tell her any minute soon.
Talk me through my nerves please!!

Why so nervous?

RockingLobstering · 12/12/2017 13:55

Because before I had DD (3 now) I miscarried at 8 weeks. So pretty nervous. But if the worst was to happen I wouldn't be able to go straight back to work anyway.

Is she the understanding type?

If you have got bad sickness then I think telling her would explain that easier. And if the worst was to happen, I assume you would tell her anyway.

Telling people isn't going to cause you to miscarry - just keep telling yourself that.

Good luck and I'm sure it will be fine Thanks

Flowers

Just take her somewhere private and tell her. You’ll feel better once she knows and she can arrange the necessary accommodations in your work.

@bathandpjs
Kind of, one of her best friends is also my colleague though. IDK how I feel about everyone knowing yet.
We've yet to tell family, waiting until the first scan to break the news properly. But I've been so ill with this one I think its best for work to know.

You can tell your boss without telling anybody else in work. She can’t tell anybody and you don’t have to, if you don’t want to.

I had horrific migraines and morning sickness with my first successful pregnancy, after multiple miscarriages, and was as anxious as you are to tell my boss. I was essentially forced to tell them because I was so ill, and was really worried about miscarriage. In the end I was just completely honest, about the miscarriages and the severity of my pregnancy symptoms. My boss was really good and supportive and let me take the lead on what I could and couldn’t do.

If you’re ill, you’re ill. Not much you can do about it but manage it as best you can.

Do what’s best for you. Good luck.
