New job, unwell with high temperature... WWYD?

I started my new job 3 weeks ago after redundancy... I began to feel quite unwell yesterday afternoon and have woken up feeling pretty awful with a temp of 38.5°.
I’ve emailed my lovely HR woman so see what she advises... on the one hand I don’t want to have to take time off so soon, but at the same time it might be the kind of office where they think people who go in when they’re ill are dickheads.

WWYD?

I’ve been sent home from a hotel reception job before. Tbf, I think I had norovirus and they’d never have sent me home except that I started being sick. And before anyone asks, I felt perfectly fine before my shift started. I even attended a meeting and participated with no problem. Very sudden, so I couldn’t really have predicted it to stay away from people, (otherwise I would have).

OP did you check your sickness policy? Mine has always said (over many companies) that you must inform your line manager in person if you're sick. Emailing isn't good enough and HR isn't even the right person. Personally I would've had more trouble from failing to follow the policy than the time off
