Wasnt sure where to post this. Rather than AIBU this should be titled AIBAI (Am I Being An Idiot) :-)

Right a few months ago I was feeling nervous, uncertain in my relationship. Single mum with 2 kids, first relationship since very traumatic break up. Very scared of letting someone in and getting hurt again. Relationship had reached the point where the kids were being introduced so it was a pretty scary time for me.

Rather than discuss my anxieties with my partner, I stupidly and after a lot of wine turned to the world of online psychics. Basically I typed questions into stupid random sites and got fake emails from psychics.

Once sobered up the next day I realised I was being an idiot and that they're fake so instead I talked to my partner who reassured me that he was in this relationship for the long haul.

Every now and then I get an email from one of these psychics and I ignore them.

Meanwhile my relationship is going from strength to strength. To the extent where I've realised I'm in love with this man and I can see a future with him and my children. Slowly introduced the kids and gradually building up the amount of time he spends with them. He's asked me to go away with him next year. Just had a lovely weekend together where he's really reassured me.

So I log into my email and find an email from one it these supposed psychics "your relationship is in great danger" apparently the cards are telling her of a "symbolic departure, a sign or separation" and that I need to call as quickly as possible so she can "tell me everything".

I know I'm being an idiot but for some reason this has really got to me. Now sat here in pieces freaking out. And I'm so cross with myself for being sooooooooo stupid.

I knew one of these women who worked as a telephone tarot reader. SHe openly admitted to a) making it up based on the cards she drew b) drawing things out to keep people on the line for longer and c) telling people they needed to update with her every day so she could guide them through the "hard time" (which was mostly just her making shit up)

She was a hack and she considered this all part of the job.

Their job is not to tell your future, dude, their job is to extract money from you.

those type of psychics are to be avoided and in truth when opening the emails its just a ploy to get you to phone and spend money.

For "Your relationship is in danger" read "Oops I've maxed out my credit card (didn't see that coming!). Must drum up some trade to get some cash"

I know I'm being an idiot but for some reason it really freaked me out.

Interestingly though I've woken up today to no good morning message, extremely unusual, and he's now ignoring my messages. He was online when I sent them and he's not even read them. Very very unusual. Now freaking out again

Well, if there's a problem it's unrelated to the psychic.

ZigZagandDustin · 11/12/2017 12:18

He's provbably in a rush or trying to get something done.

I have copy and pasted this from another thread (so will probably get my wrist slapped by MNHQ) but it shows what these "psychics" are all about:

I earn money as an internet psychic/tarot reader answering text messages. The service is frantically busy. No experience necessary. It's 30p a text Monday to Friday and 36p at the weekends. On a good week I can earn £90 and this is on top of regular job. On average I earn £30. I need to pay tax an NI on this but by writing on broadband/rent etc, I barely pay any tax. DH does is occasionally but his work pays better overtime whereas I can't do overtime with my job. Last year, I earn £2k after tax doing this.

IT'S A SCAM
