This isn't about one post in particular but about nearly all troll posts.
Why do people take the time to respond to a troll? It's a completely pointless act as all the troll wants is attention, you are giving them exactly what they want.

If we all just hit report and ignored the post they would disappear a lot faster.

Unfortunately if you don't respond to troll posts, there may be some people who think the troll is right because they're not being challenged, IFSWIM? I enjoy seeing an intelligent poster tear down some of the arseholes.

And some people just have objectionable views and are not trolls/GFs. It's not always easy to tell the difference.

Because some people don't spot that it's a troll (I fount anyone's trolldar is 109% reliable).

Because even the gentlest of warnings on thread risks you a ban for troll hunting.

Because some people enjoy feeding trolls and poking them to greater excesses.

Because some trolls are really good at hitting the right emotional buttons that suck the vulnerable in.

I can't tell when someone is a troll and I have no intention of improving my trolldar. I leave that up to you experts. I also enjoy a good laugh and will wind them up. Like I do to chuggers and Jehovah's witnesses.

Sparklingbrook · 10/12/2017 14:09

Because they have to realise it's a troll to not reply? Or they are very gullible.

So you can't tell if someone is a troll but will still wind them up?

Bananalanacake · 10/12/2017 14:39

Yes. If it is a light hearted one and others are doing the same but not if it's a sad one about relationships.

SandBlanketCup · 10/12/2017 14:59

But some of them go on for pages and pages, it just seems a bit ridiculous sometimes

I don't mind trolls. If someone's life is so empty and my post on a screen fills the void a little, so be it.

I'm not necessarily great at spotting a troll, but it can't get myself too worked up over it.
