...from Oxford to Manchester today for a concert? I have a pretty small car and the snow is looking pretty heavy? Smart not to go, or am I being a drama queen..snow is just snow?

And anyone who does 90mph in heavy snow is an idiot, speaking as someone who lives in northern New England and will be driving in snow for the next 4-5 months.

There is always someone who tries to act superior in these threads but actually just looks really really stupid Wink

My husband works nights and had to come home at 8am this morning. Going downhill the car started sliding and just slid down a hill drivers side door facing forward. In the end he parked up and ran the 3 miles home in his uniform and a thin hoody. He said if he didn't run he'd have froze. Definitely not worth it. And now our car is 3 miles away with no chance of us collecting it today. Just hoping no one else slides down the hill and hits it.

It’s an ill wind, not to say a bloody snowstorm . . . friends of ours nearby have had an excuse to call off going to a relation’s wedding which was going to be dull as dogshit and come over here for a drink or nine instead!

I'm assuming you booked to watch Mariah? I'm local to Manchester - loads have people have put their tickets on the for sale sites local to me cos snow has been thick on and off all day. Where I am it is snowing quite heavily, but Manchester seems to be ok for now my friends say, but I wouldn't risk it without a hotel booking tbh
