To wonder if sleep or food is more important?

DD is 2 and getting to the stage where she needs to give up her nap. She will tend to be ready for her nap between 2-3 and then if she has one won't settle to sleep at night until at least 9.30, occasionally up to 10.30. However, she will eat lots at dinner.

She can easily get past her need for a nap in the afternoon but then is really tired by the time we have tea at around 6/6.30 (can't be earlier because of after school activities) and barely eats anything and usually is ready for bed by 7.15. She wakes at around 7.

What do you think - let her nap so she eats better in the evening, or just let her eat more at other meals and go to bed earlier?

Is this even a question? Get her to bed at 7! Offer food earlier/more at other times of day.

I would let her nap tbh no need to drop it if she still likes a nap can you wake her up after half an hour maybe she will go to bed earlier? I was always one for an easy life and let them nap dd1 dropped her before she was 2 dd2 was nearly 4.

At 2 years old I would expect her to be ready for bed by 7 so 7.15 is about right. Can you not give her more at lunch and then a snack tea whilst the others are doing their after school activities?

Well just to answer your title question... I think you die without sleep in about 10 days, can go weeks without food.

Our almost 2 year old sleeps pretty much 7:30-7:30. He has his dinner at about 3:30pm then a supper of porridge or something while we eat at 6:30.

She's too groggy to wake after half hour and even if I manage it she still doesn't go to bed until late. There's nothing she can really have on the move during activities that she hasn't already had at lunchtime. She will eat a big breakfast if she's gone to bed earlier, though.

Drop the nap and she can have her main meal at lunch with snacks/light tea in the afternoon or evening.
