Smart tv just been hacked??? Porn on tv!!!!

No idea where to post this but just wondering if the same thing or similar has happened to anyone?

We Purchased new smart TVs for the house about a week ago..

Me and my partner were in bed and all of a sudden a notification saying 'Brett is trying to connect to your tv, accept or allow' my partner accidentally clicked allow!

It then said 'Brett disconnected'...

10 mins go by and all of a sudden a full blown porno suddenly pops on to our tv along with Brett's name at the top saying 'connected' I was half way through episode 2 of the new series of the crown so bit shocked!
My partner is concerned about someone hacking the wifi!

We all live in new build semis and I don't know our neighbours name yet, could it be him?? Could it be someone hiding outside? Do you have to be close to access a smart tv?

I'm really worried now that this happens in the day when my daughter is watching one of the TVs!!!

I need to see if the man next door is called Brett! Confused

Any similar experiences at all?

I am sorry, but this has really made me chuckle. 😂😂

Nope, no hacking involved. It's a smart TV so it's very easy for people to stream from their phones to their smart TV. He's just accidentally streamed to yours. I bet that if he found out, he'd be mortified.

Just switch it off and if it happens again, pop a note through his door telling him that he's streaming to the wrong TV.

ParcelPop · 09/12/2017 00:27

😂😂 OP! I dare you.

Justaboy · 09/12/2017 00:33

Old hat this one. When cable TV was popular around the area we lived in there were a couple of porn chanels in the basic package so most everyone had access.

It was quite fun to go along the streets aim your remote thru the window and switch the porn chanel on.

Can imagine the arguements it must have caused;!

dingdongdigeridoo · 09/12/2017 00:33

I’m guessing he’s not trying to stream to his own tv. Probably just accidentally hitting the button thinking it’s somerthing else. Or getting carried away in the heat of the moment...

littleredrobbin · 09/12/2017 00:34

...RIGHT.... MR next door neighbour has just noisily pulled into his drive in his work van so it can't have been him!!! It must have been the wife?Unless it is a random person on the street in another house!

Oh god I hope the wife isn't on MN! Blush

My partner wanted to live stream our faces to their tv! grin

Yes! Showing your shocked and horrified expressions at what you're seeing on your screen!!

UpLighter · 09/12/2017 00:35

I recon it is deliberate. I do similar to my neighbour during important bits of shows Grin

BeALert · 09/12/2017 00:37

You should be able to change the name of your discoverable device to "I know what you're up to, Brett".

Please do this.

treeofhearts · 09/12/2017 00:49

I was thinking Huge shit eating grin and a massive placard saying interesting taste Brett.

Is it easy? With our TV you have to be connected to the same wi-fi network, otherwise it doesn't even show up as a device. I thought that's how they all worked. You'd have to have the wi-fi password before you could stream, so it's definitely not something you could do accidentally.

It will be a neighbour trying to stream to their own TV. I accidentally connect YouTube to my Dad's TV all the bloody time when we stay over. Thankfully not porn!

ScreamingValenta · 09/12/2017 01:08

Just laughing away at a 'convocation' with your neighbours! Xmas Grin

littleredrobbin · 09/12/2017 09:38

@ScreamingValenta haha oh dear! I'm on my phone so predictive is a bit off... I obviously wouldn't have a large gathering with the neighbours to find out who's doing what haha

@RobotGoat for access to apps wifi connection is needed, but to connect your phone to the tv apparently not. they are Samsung TVs and after googling how to de connect Brett's device it turns out lots of people have the same problem.

Haven't seen the neighbours this morning yet Grin

Ha ha - a convocation might be only the way forward if no one will admit to this!

AlonsosLeftPinky · 09/12/2017 10:05

I've accidentally connected to my neighbour's TV before. They said they enjoyed my Xmas photos 😂

FluffyWhiteTowels · 09/12/2017 10:06

not so 'smart' TV me thinks Samsung Xmas Shock

sashh · 09/12/2017 10:13

I'm going to try strike up a convocation with them next door tomorrow! Obviously just to find out their names

No just change your wifi name to "Brett, we know what you wanted to be doing last night"

JustMarriedAndLovingIt · 09/12/2017 10:18

Lol. We had a similar experience not long after DH (then DP got together) He had brought his Apple TV with him and we were sat in the front room chatting when all of a sudden pictures of his ex kept coming up on the screen. Boobs out, trout pouting, full frontal nudies, pictures of sex toys she was planning on buying. We were really confused and called her. It turned out it was something to do with her iCloud account still being synced with the Apple TV so whenever she took a pic on her phone it was being saved to our TV! This happened quite a few times until DH sorted it out for her.

littleredrobbin · 09/12/2017 10:22

I heard Mr next door neighbour pull up in his work van AFTER 'Brett is connecting' and after the cheesy porn appearing on my tv!

I'm thinking Brett is either MRS next door neighbour or possibly a neighbour further away?
Surely there has to be a distance limit when you connect to a tv?

I don't think it could be the next closest neighbour as she's an 80 year old woman who is a regular church goer, as are her next door neighbours! Blush

I NEED to find out who Brett is!

confusedlittleone · 09/12/2017 12:18

Are your non connected neighbours still reasonably close?

dizydi · 30/01/2018 11:06

I was watching Judge Rinder and up popped really bad porn, I mean nothing barred. Has many other people had the same thing happen. Unfortunately I had visitors at the time. Believe me, can be embarrasing.

JediStoleMyBike · 30/01/2018 11:08

Poor Brett 😂

Rudeolf · 30/01/2018 11:13

Change your wifi name to Brett,Brett,Brett.

PinkHeart5914 · 30/01/2018 11:17

I have a smart tv that tbh I don’t really understand how the bloody thing works. I had a Message like that come up the other week “Susan wants to connect to your tv” but I did click no as I didn’t know what was going on.

My internet is password protect so are they using there own WiFi to connect to my tv? Why do they want to connect to my tv?
