To not be going on a Christmas night out this year?

I'm a bit of a hermit and an introvert and all out antisocial bastard. Saying that though, I used to kind of like Christmas nights outs ... everyone merry raising glasses and singing along to Slade in the pubs. The last time I did this was about 6 years ago when I was single. I kind of miss it.

But in the other hand I like being warm and cosy at home with my dog, chocolate and a good film and really can't be arsed with nights outs these days.

I've been invited to the works do but I'm not going because a) I don't know anyone well enough and b) I'm an ex alcoholic and don't entirely trust myself in an environment where drink is unlimited.

So I won't be doing it this year. I'm slightly jealous that DH will be out having a whale of a time with his mates whilst I'm at home on my Todd but I know that is unreasonable.

Anyone else NOT going on a Christmas night out this year?

I'm perfectly happy at home too. I did go to the school mums xmas do last night - they are a nice group and it's the last one I'll go to as DS is my youngest and it's his final year in primary school. I also always do a xmas night out with my group of friends which is tomorrow night. Usually dinner and a bar. I'd never go to a work party though - luckily my work don't do them!

Not at all. I would much rather be home. I always swerve the works dos. Occasionally I will have a meal with one or two real life friends in December which kind of counts but in general I avoid!

I'm not going to mine either so I'll need to work it. It's quite a big crowd going and I'm a bit shy/don't have much in common with anyone/ don't like about half the people going.

I hate my current team and wasn’t invited to their party!

So my BFF who works in a different team with nice military officers has invited me to his meal and drinks. Smile

I’m not normally one for Christmas parties tbh.

I didn't go on my work one (last weekend) but have a friend one at a pub 5 minutes walk from my house next weekend which I'm looking forward to.

I'm not going on one, new to my job by three weeks and old team had been dispersed across large area, every one busy etc. I just got married last month so saw all my real friends then.
Nights in with a good bottle of wine for me

I'm not going to my work's Christmas do either. In the 18 years I've worked there I've been to about three and those have been when it's been a smaller team going out for a meal and drinks rather than a full on party thing. I don't particularly like mixing work and alcohol and I'm a bit miserable.

I will however be having Christmas drinks at a couple of friends houses over the Christmas period so I'm not entirely anti social.

Purpleprickles · 08/12/2017 18:39

Mines tonight and I've decided not to go. I've worked there too long now to see the appeal anymore and I'd rather go out with my real friends from there separately. I've also got a sore throat which is a helpful excuse or poor attempt to try and disguise the fact I'm a miserable sod.

I don't get work Xmas party as self employed.
Hey ho. Going to Kew with some pals is the height of it.
Other than that, PJs, hot choc + cat sounds like a win to me!

I planned not to go but my team are really pressuring me Sad
Not sure whether to change my mind but I really do hate the whole dressing up thing - much happier with a J2O in the local pub

I told a small lie and said i had no chkld care, when infact my kids were away at nanny's for the weekend. So me and the o/h locked the door and Wink had a great weekend. Both were the same night diffrent jobs.
