dd 5 yrs chesty cough high fever - calprofen question

dd has had a chesty cold for the last few days. Went back to school today and cam home with a fever.

I gave her Norofen for children to regulate her temperature.
7.5 ml at 8am
7.5 ml at 17.00
7.5. just no (1am)

it's still 39.3 20 min after the last dose.

She has been moaning in her ale for the last 3 hours.

how much calpol can i give her now (together with 7,5 ml Norofen for kids) if her fever doesn't come down?

Do i need to worry is this an out of hours 111 situ?

You can give Calpol and Nurofen at a dose it says on the packaging, both at the same time. Always gets done at a hospital ( my son ends up there often with high fevers and chest problems ) and it nearly always works.

However, with such a high fever the temperature is least of your worries. Any other symptoms?

Big cough?
Rapid heart beat that sounds/feels like she's been running?
Has she been very, very tired, lethargic, half/sleepy?
Is the middle of her chest sinking in when she takes a breath?

That kind of thing..

If you call 111 ( you could do that ) they will ask for extra symptoms anyway. So observe her for a little while.

It's coming down now, 38.3 30 min after giving her nurofen.

Shall i give calpol now too? or hold off?

She is not too lethargic. Her caught is more many little coughs sound wet. She at a bowl of yoghurt now too.

As fever is coming down i'll wait and take her to the gp in the morning.

Feel like crying have been up 3 nights with her in a row.
she is now asking "what do horse do at Christmas time" in a loud voice.

If it's been a few days, do take her to GPs tomorrow. The main thing is for a doctor to listen to her chest and then you can have a peace of mind. If she sleeps and lets you sleep then wait for the morning, nothing much else can be done.
If you don't get some sleep. you'll start asking horse questions too
