AIBU to think that MN thrives on drama these days?

Even in the relatively short amount of time I have been a member (plus name change) the whole feel of the forums has changed.

If someone posts about a 'relatively minor' relationship problem it suddenly becomes all LTB.

If someone posts that a family member or friend has unexpectedly died, people want all the gruesome details.

Is it just me that finds it distasteful?

Sometimes people just want a gentle hand hold or signposting to professional help and advice, not a sudden leap to LTB.

Escapepeas

I agree with all of your points. Some people seem to enjoy treating other people real life (and sometime life-changing) problems as a soap opera

There certainly is an awful lot of drivel on here nowadays.

And I agree about all the "any update OP??" crap too.

That and the posters who are so keen to be Head Girl telling everyone what The Guidelines are and how people shouldn't troll hunt blah blah blah.

Tedious.

@AuntieStella

'LTB is an in-joke.'

LTB isn't an 'in-joke' only very occasionally and people do say it jokingly.

I am always gobsmacked at the amount of time I see it barked out on AIBU, Chat, and Relationships. (Seriously and not in jest.)

'My husband leaves pubes in the shower tray.' LTB!
'My husband never does the washing up.' LTB!
'My husband sneezed on me.' LTB!

A poster can say her husband has been a bit lazy for the 15 years they have been together, but everything else is great in the marriage.

Then some know-all will pop up and say 'Well it clearly ISN'T a great marriage'. And 'are you sure you're just not SCARED to leave coz you have been beaten down by him, and manipulated by his cruel, wily ways!' And 'why stay in a dead marriage? This will be your life with him forever - LTB!'

So many people say this, but the reality is NOT ONE of these women would leave THEIR man if it was the same situation. (Not if it was a non-serious issue.)

I think there are a lot of very bored women on here, who spend a LOT of time on here, and are desperate to spice it up. The worst ones (who cause drama and also love drama, and are on here a LOT) are the ones who claim they are highly educated, jet-setting professionals on £90K a year...

They're really not...

Drama? There's a lot of John-boy tripped over his shoe lace and the bitch of a neighbour looked at him funny drama.

AuntieStella · 03/12/2017 21:30

I would take all those examples as in-joke

That's why you can't regulate an open site. People really do see things differently.
