I have some delicious smelling coconut shampoo that is unfortunately terrible for my hair - leaves it greasy AND flaky Confused but I don't want to waste it! Had a shower and washed my body with it today and now I smell delicious Grin but is this somehow wrong? Is it bad for my skin or anything?

Badg
I wonder why your legs reacted but not your scalp? 😕

I find SOAP and bubbble bath too strong and they both dry my skin out.

I use conditioner to shave my legs too!

I washed with shampoo last night after someone forgot to replace the soap after using it up. Thus far I am still alive and suffering no ill effects.

I don’t buy shower gel... just give myself a bit of an all over wash with the shampoo suds as I’m doing my hair. (Unless i’m Not doing my hair, then I’ll use whatever soap or shampoo is to hand - often the free stuff at the gym.)

I kind of always thought shower gel was a bit of a scam and people largely regarded it as such?

If they are similar does that mean you can use shower gel on your hair?

CecilyP · 04/12/2017 18:31

They are all just detergents with different smells and different packaging. Shampoo is generally milder so it doesn't sting she it goe in your eyes, so probably best not to use shower gel as shampoo.

I think I've read somewhere that all these things are basically just fairy liquid.

LunchBoxPolice · 04/12/2017 19:01

Depends if you want extra body.

Whiterabbitears · 04/12/2017 19:02

I definitely don't want extra body! I've got than enough right now! Grin

Sauce see what you did there. Used to collect the bottles when I was young

Badgoushk · 04/12/2017 22:13

InspMorse, it wasn't just my legs. It was all over my entire body: scalp, lips, etc! It got into my blood stream via 'down below'. I researched it and found out that this methyl ingredient is only licensed in shampoos as it doesn't get into the systemic circulation that way. But it does if you wash your privates with it! My error! The ingredient used to be in Huggies baby wipes but was banned in 2013. It's in lots of household products (Method washing up liquid, for example) that I'm having to replace.

Have a read of this if you're interested. Please no one else wash with this stuff!

Husband uses the shampoo to bathe with, so annoying when I’ve treated myself to a more expensive than usual one !!! 😀
