To think working PT with young kids does not = all cleaning

I've come across this a few times - attitude that if someone is PT they should/could do all housework... Am I the only one who struggles with this??

Maybe because of the hours I work, or how demanding my kids are, but I find it hard enough to get the time to cook, load the dishwasher and stick a wash on let alone dust, vacuum and clean the bathroom!

I’m part time with a nearly two year old (and another on the way). I try to sort the kitchen, do a load of washing, do the food shop and push the hoover round on my days off, but the rest is done jointly. I’m hoping to stay part time when our DC start school and would then expect to be doing the bulk of the household work.

I have a lot less housework to do since I left my xh.The house it kept tidy so cleaning is a doddle.

We share. I work part time dh works full time. I obviously do washing up after daytime meals any washing, tidy round, hoover ECT. At night after I've gone to work and the kids are in bed he will wash up from evening meal, any more washing that needs doing tidy round.
Sunday is big clean day. He will clean kitchen, bedrooms, hoover upstairs whilst I clean bathroom, polish hoover, mop and tidy downstairs.
Works for us.

yellow that only works if the full time worker wants to have quality time with DC in the evening.
In my case he comes home and relaxes whilst I have quality time with DC; running them to activities, helping with homework, putting youngest to bed etc. So if I want a few hours downtime during the day when I am not working, studying on doing housework I will take it.
Aldo it depends on what constitutes housework? Yes laundry, dusting cleaning etc should be for the most part done depending upon hours worked and childcare responsibility etc. But washing up from evening meal and additional weekend chores should be shared imo.

Yes its very much a how many hours do you work, how many children, what ages and what does your DH do works wise as well.

but even if you don't work, have one easy child who is a school - I still think you should get the odd day off doing all cleaning just like an employee gets 4 weeks holiday and can call in sick. And I really think the other members of the house shouldn't confuse you with a house elf and just leave mess for you to run round and pick up.
