To be shocked at this email I got from a company?

Maybe I’m being silly. Background, had a skin care treatment done. Quite expensive (for me anyway) and on the day of the treatment it was nothing like they had described. I emailed and asked someone to call but they refused to do that.

After searching I found a terrible review of them which highlighted my experience and I sent that to them and asked them to please refund me for the treatments I hadn’t had (paid for 3 and only had 1 so far) as they seemed like a scam. This is what they sent me -

“I don't see how the ignorant comments of some other uninformed and delusional person online in any way validates your defamatory remarks below.

That person will now be on the receiving end of a legal action for disseminating false information online, so I suggest you do not commit a similar offence to avoid legal proceedings being brought against you also.

Your remaining treatments have been cancelled, and the amount refundable has been returned to your card used. It may take 2-3 working days to appear on your statement.

Please do not contact this clinic again. Aftercare and all communications are henceforth terminated.”

Op last week a poster had a poor experance with a skin treatment clinic that’s why people are asking if it’s you

babyturtles · 01/12/2017 19:33

They were probably asking if you'd posted about this before because it sounds familiar to them.

Shocking customer service, how dare they try to bully you into not leaving a bad review.

FucksakeCuntingFuckingTwats · 01/12/2017 19:48

It sounds very like someone I know, what's the first initial of the place.

It's a shockingly unprofessional way to talk to someone. And if you were to tell people it wouldn't be defamation as you'd be giving a true report of what happened. You can't get done for defamation with facts.

Superlandlady · 01/12/2017 19:51

If you had paid by credit card, I believe the cc company would pursue the refund.

EasterRobin · 01/12/2017 19:51

Why aren't they refunding you for the mis-advertised treatment that you had?

PoorYorick · 01/12/2017 19:55

It's not defamation, reviews are protected by qualified privilege - i.e., they are made in good faith and not maliciously intended to ruin the firm's reputation, e.g. by a competitor. Fuck's sake, if you couldn't leave a poor review film critics would be required by law to say everything they see is great, or print nothing at all!

Don't be scared by them, they are talking shite. Report them to the regulator.

TidyLike · 01/12/2017 19:59

They are idiots and their threats of legal action are desperate bullshit. I'd publicise as much as possible and also look into contacting a regulator to complain.

TheEricaOlthwaiteGang · 01/12/2017 20:04

It's them not you. They are the sort of shady fuckers who try to Scare people with legal action around defamation libel slander. None of that is criminal, all civil so they better have deep pockets if they want to take you (and everybody else they've fucked over) to court.

ooodile · 01/12/2017 20:48

Their reply is very defensive and reeks of being scared. "If we use bully boy tactics she'll back off".

CorbynsBumFlannel · 01/12/2017 21:01

I'd get your refund and post as many factual reviews as you can - including a screenshot of their professional customer service in your email!

BornInSydneyy · 01/12/2017 21:07

Why won’t mn remove my post? I reported it and nothing

You have neither named them nor given a location. How could there be any repercussions from this thread which could apply to almost any salon anywhere.
