I need to get married....

Well I need to organise our wedding in the easiest possible way. We've chosen the date in August next year, on our 10 year anniversary and have decided to go somewhere warm. But it needs to be easy to organise and suitable for 3 kids (6, 3 & 18 months). How do I find a wedding planner to help sort this??? I'm overwhelmed by the googling I've done so far. Are there forums for this??

I got married abroad with 6 guests and just booked a wedding package with the hotel booking. It was £800 and it included a wedding coordinator at the hotel, transport to the capital to do all the paperwork, the ceremony, hair and makeup for me, bouquet for me, buttonholes and corsages for everyone else, flowers to decorate the area we chose to get married in the grounds of the hotel, a wedding cake, sparkling wine, a photographer and videographer for the ceremony plus about four hours later that day including videoing us at sunset walking down the beach, the photos all printed off in an album, the digital photos, the video, romantic dinner on the beach for the bridal couple, a speedboat trip, and a full breakfast for the two of us delivered to our room the following day. I think that was everything! Oh and our basic room was upgraded to a full suite.

We had everyone there for a week and had the ceremony on the penultimate day, then we stayed another week after everyone else had gone.

I booked it through Kuoni and they were brilliant. They even gave me a 5% discount for the multiple booking.

I got married at a Sandals resort in Grenada. It was just the two of us and the on site wedding planner planned everything for us, over a few conference calls. As we stayed at the resort for 10 days, our wedding was free. Literally didn't pay a penny extra, apart from for photos, so was just the cost of a posh holiday (which we probably would have spent on a homeymoon anyway.) Not sure how much it would be if you were having guests, but I would definitely recommend as it was fabulous. They are adults only but they have sister resorts called Beaches that I believe also do weddings and are more aimed at families so I would assume would offer the same/similar packages.

Oh fabulous thanks for all the suggestions. It's really helpful to have some recommendations to get me started.

We do want to get married abroad as my family is on the other side of the world and with some less than straight forward family dynamics, I don't want to invite them all. And if we had it in the uk, then it'd be strange not having DPs family there. So we want to take our little family away and do it, just us.

And the wedding planner question Hmm. You try organising a wedding in another country without speaking the language and juggling a job & 3 kids. ...

Another suggestion for a Greek wedding planner weddingsinkos.com/

Las Vegas is nice and warm and you don't need much in the way of planning there!

It's also surprisingly nice for children, there's tons of fun stuff around, you can do day trips to the Grand Canyon (which is insanely amazing) and it's just quite a lot of fun, even without the gambling.

There's no language barrier either, so you can be sure not to get the paperwork wrong.

That said, I personally would just do a quick registry office thing first then just have an amazing holiday.

I was also going to say that after the unpleasant behaviour of two spoilt brat newly weds, the Greeks may tell you to shove it.

Point taken about why go abroad, although eloping to your local reg office one lunch hour is much easier and no one needs to know.

Wishingandwaiting · 30/11/2017 17:18

Why do you need a wedding planner if just you and the children?

PinkFlamingo888 · 30/11/2017 17:38

Go into a travel agent and they will sort it for you. Don’t try to book it yourself online or book the holiday separately from the wedding as that will just be added hassle. You can do the whole package including the wedding for not much more than the cost of the family holiday. Just tell your travel agent roughly when you want to go and they can give you prices and availability.

That's such a shame about the chapel in Lindos! What a revolting thing to do.

Why do you need a wedding planner if just you and the children?

This has already been answered above - a planner will organise the ceremony including legalities as well as any reception. Very helpful, bordering on necessary, for any wedding abroad, whether it's just the two of you or there's a cast of hundreds.

Wishingandwaiting · 30/11/2017 20:18

Nope, still baffled why.
The legalities will be very straightforward if you go somewhere that does weddings.
The reception you say? Colorising the OP, hernoartner and their three young children. I’m guessing it will be a rather hurried bite to eat!

Wishingandwaiting · 30/11/2017 20:20

Sorry typos.
“Comprising” that souls read.

It will be a wonderful joyous occasion OP.
Don’t make it hard work.
Sort the legalities.
Bite to eat with you and DH enjoying some champers.
And then enjoy a wonderful holiday.

Goa. Can get a deal to suit any budget. For 6-10 people you could get a deal for as low as a couple of grand plus flights. Indian destinations include wedding planners. But don’t do August. Do Easter instead.

BeetrootTart · 30/11/2017 20:23

USA is generally very straightforward. I got married in Hawaii and didn't even need to source witnesses. Florida and Las Vegas are also easy locations (it varies by state).

IndianaMoleWoman · 30/11/2017 20:29

We got married in Santorini. Lots of travel agents (Thomas Cook, Tui etc.) can book you a wedding during your holiday but you often can’t choose the time and date of your wedding, so we went with a local planner. We had three guests and had dinner in the capital overlooking the caldera to watch the sunset. It was fantastic! Go for it.

Sweetpea15 · 30/11/2017 23:40

We got married in Crete with a company called MOMENTS. They were brilliant and decently priced x
