So thanks to that jumped up little shit Martin Lewis, I became aware of the Marriage Allowance the other day. In case anyone doesn't know, if one person in the marriage is earning under 11,500 (I think) and the other earns under £45000, the low earner can transfer their tax allowance to the high earner. This can be backdated to 2015! Ours is processing atm, and when I called HMRC, thry told me that DH eill get a cheque for around £400.
What I didn't realize, is that you can do the same with Blind Person's Tax Allowance! This is an extra £2300 allowance, and, if you're eligable, it can be backdated for FOUR YEARS!! You do have to fill out paper forms for this one, and it's a separate form for each tax year.
I can't be the only one who didn't know about this. That's why I want to post it here.
