To ignore letter from previous employer?

Recently I changed jobs. My last job was minimum wage for a national supermarket chain. I have received a letter (possibly automatically generated) asking me to pay them £101 which they say they overpaid me. They don't give details of the supposed overpayment so I don't know what it's for as I was never obviously overpaid iykwim. Wibu to ignore the letter? I think it's possible they think I used a day of holiday when I didn't as my manager messed up the rota one day and the duty manager hadn't expected me in, I asked him to change it at the time but he just sneered (he's one reason I changed job...)

I really don't want to have to spend time running through dates and times to prove I worked the hours they paid me, especially as my manager did all the staff timesheets so I don't know what he submitted.

Don’t ignore it. Write to them and ask why they want to ask for the money back.

If you ignore it you will likely get one more reminder letter, also saying they will take you to small claims court if you don't pay them back. Then you will never hear from them again.

I work in HR and this happens all the time. Its normally over taken holiday and we write the 2 letters then have never taken anyone to small claims unless they owe a substantial amount.

I would ignore but keep any proof of holidays taken etc just in case

Thanks. I will see if they ask again then and meanwhile make notes of the dates I worked in case I need it as evidence. Thankfully my new employer is more organised.
