My husband is petrified of the doctor after a really bad accident he had a few years ago, I'm still trying to get him to go but was wondering if anyone knew what his symptoms could be? Sorry for asking here, just posting for traffic;

Painful testicles, with a lump in the inside (he had an ultrasound for this year's ago and he was told it was a varicose vein)
Pooing blood
Pooing mucous
Really bad lower back pain which shoots down his legs
Bad heartburn

He has had these symptoms on and off for over a year but they are getting worse and for longer periods of time.

No one can offer a diagnosis here. It could be lots of things, some more sinister than others.

He needs to get to his GP pronto.

Tell him Donkey said don't be a dick, pick up that phone, get it sorted.

No one here can tell you but it could be cancer so he best get himself to the Drs asap.

letsdolunch321 · 29/11/2017 10:14

Can you offer to go with him?

My partner is like this as soon as I offer to go with him he is happier with the situation

GinandGingerBeer · 29/11/2017 10:14

What’s worse a GP visit or a possible long spell in hospital with invasive treatment. Everybody knows what blood in your stools can be an indicator of.
I’m not sure what you want from this post but I know what you’ll get.
Get him to the GP. Urgently!

VulgarWheat · 29/11/2017 10:16

The kind of medical advice you're after is actually against the GMCs code of conduct. No one can safely diagnose over the internet. Could you phone the GPs? They may have encountered this before and be able to offer things like first appointment of the day so less chance of running out of waiting room etc. Best of luck

Myusernam · 29/11/2017 10:25

Thank you, I know it's impossible to diagnose something but was hoping someone could maybe point us in a direction to read into. Never the less, I've got him an urgent appointment for today.

They aren't necessarily all linked.

But pooing blood and mucus means an urgent trip to the doctor - I'm glad you have got him to go. He will absolutely need further investigations for this (camera up the bum).

I would actually recommend not reading too much extra as it will probably freak him out and there are too many things it could be, most of which he'll turn out not to have. Just focus on each step of the journey - eg being calm and finding out about camera test and so on.

If he is passing blood and mucous he will likely need to be referred for a gastroscopy and a colonoscopy to find the cause. He really needs to see the Gp who will also likely do blood tests to check his HB (blood count). Please get him to go and I hope you get sorted xx

Oysterbabe · 29/11/2017 19:40

How did the appointment go?

Snugglywithmycat17 · 29/11/2017 19:54

Hope it’s nothing to sinister?

Glumglowworm · 29/11/2017 20:15

He needs to get to his GP, who can diagnose based on examination and tests. Posting here is just another way of procrastinating

Bratsandtwats · 29/11/2017 20:17

Hope you managed to convince him to go to todays appointment?
