When I was younger (not in my twenties oh no) I was convinced Mother Theresa was from biblical times Blush until I saw her on the news.

I was absolutely convinced and one of my friends the same age as me thought the same!

Please tell me I’m not the only one who thought this Confused

I stayed in one of the hostels run by her order. I called it The Hostel with the Evil Nuns. Most of them nasty bitches.

CakesRUs · 29/11/2017 04:30

Love this!

friendlessme · 29/11/2017 04:47

I though (while still a grown adult) that ‘Sherpa’ Was Sherpa Tensing’s first name...Blush

friendlessme · 29/11/2017 04:49

Argh Tenzing not Tensing!

InLoveWithLizML · 29/11/2017 05:20

You were young so I get where you're coming from.

There's loads of controversy about her as millions were donated but I think her order was dedicated to poverty, so they didn't the bare minimum, when others felt more should have been done.

Nakedavenger74 · 29/11/2017 05:21

For a very long time I thought 'suicide' was actually sewer side. Had no idea what it meant but just imagined someone looking into a sewer

blackheartsgirl · 29/11/2017 06:07

Omg Sherpa tenzing Blush

Penny’s just dropped. I thought that was his first name even though I know what Sherpas are I’ve just never made the connection Grin

I thought Tuna was made from dolphins Blush

RobinHumphries · 29/11/2017 06:30

I thought banks were similar to Gringotts where everyone had their own little vault or safe and that’s where my money was deposited - so physically there’d be a little box with just my money in it

PodgeBod · 29/11/2017 06:32

Yes, my older sister convinced me that tuna had dolphin in it. I always thought they were tiny little fish like sardines for some reason.

StealthPolarBear · 29/11/2017 06:34

I always add my tigers=lady lions on these thread

StealthPolarBear · 29/11/2017 06:35

Now someone's mentioned it I always assumed Julie Andrews was much much older than she is

lidoshuffle · 29/11/2017 06:39

I knew they were separate people, but I felt somehow that my mum, the Queen and Valerie Singleton were combined into a sort of Holy Trinity super-matriarch. I think it was the same helmet hairdo that did it.

Katkincake · 29/11/2017 06:40

When I was a kid I thought that when my grandparents were young life was in black and white (due to old photos) and that it only changed to colour when my Mum and Dad were in their teens!

ShatnersBassoon · 29/11/2017 06:44

I thoughts all cats are girls and all dogs are boys for far longer than you'd think possible.

VivaLeBeaver · 29/11/2017 06:48

I'm one of many who as a teenager/young adult thought the whole of Centre Parcs was covered by a giant glass dome, including the woods.

howdoyoudecide · 29/11/2017 06:55

I thought poached eggs were illegal and that pay per view was paper view

Ceebs85 · 29/11/2017 07:02

I thought the paper view thing too

I thought geese were male and swans were female

StealthPolarBear · 29/11/2017 07:06

Thing is, grown up logic and reason doesn't make childhood truths go away does it. You still semi believe them until you correct yourself

crisscrosscranky · 29/11/2017 07:07

My grandad told me that birds poo when they see blue cars as they think it's the sea.

I didn't realise he was pulling my leg until a couple of years ago when o told my DH I couldn't buy a certain car as it was blue. I was 27. Blush

derekthe1adyhamster · 29/11/2017 07:10

I thought newspaper stand headlines were handwritten Blush

friendlessme · 29/11/2017 08:33

Ha blackheartsgirl glad I’m not the only one! The blue car thing is funny!

crazycatgal · 29/11/2017 08:38

@VivaLeBeaver I thought that as well!

EdmundCleverClogs · 29/11/2017 09:01

I thought Michael Jackson was a woman when I was a child, just from the pictures

I was a 90’s child, I couldn’t wrap my head around the fact he was black for a long time. I also was rather worried that I would wake up one day a different colour to my family Blush. Ironically, I have developed vitiligo as an adult, perhaps karma for my youthful ignorance.

minisoksmakehardwork · 29/11/2017 09:23

I was another of the 'Center Parcs is all under a dome' believers. In my defence I had never been to one nor seen one close up.

My own 5 year old children are struggling with the concept of Jesus being born at Christmas and dying 5 ish months later at Easter. They honestly think he grew from baby to adult in that time, not that there might have been years and years inbetween.
