To expect a replacement

Bought an HP CHROME BOOK in September. It keeps losing the picture on screen and turning grey. Took it back to Currys and they are telling me it has to be repaired and not replaced. Apparently you only get a 30 day warranty???
I want a replacement. It's clearly faulty!!

That's why I never buy anything from Currys. Next time buy it from John Lewis.

HarrietKettleWasHere · 28/11/2017 19:50

Currys are SHIT.

confusedlittleone · 28/11/2017 19:56

I thought legally they have the option of repair or replace? And it's their choice what one they choose

Killerqueen2244 · 28/11/2017 20:01

Curry’s are the worst company ever (don’t look at their FB page!) under 6 months you have more rights I think- has to be fit for purpose perhaps? Our LG sound system died after 8 months and apparently after 6 months they only have to offer a repair/replacement rather than money back. I had to really fight for it.

I’m surprised they’re allowed to only offer a30 day warranty.

I'm going to go in this week and demand better service!! Seems really crap!!

confused that's correct

op you don't get to demand

inmyshoos · 28/11/2017 20:14

It's a crap service. I will let my feeling be known.

It's crap I agree. But they have the option to repair if it's repairable. If memory serves, they have to replace if they can't repair.

Slarti · 28/11/2017 20:18

YABU to "expect" a replacement, unfortunately. Within 30 days you can, but after that the vendor has the right to offer a repair. If the repair is unsuccessful, however, you can then demand a full refund.

3awesomestars · 28/11/2017 20:18

After 30 days the company has the right to repair or replace - their choice. If the repair fails then you can get a full refund if it’s within 6 months. (After 6 months they can offer partial refund).

Check out the consumer rights act you are covered under that as per above.

Unfortunately they do have the opportunity to try and repair.

RunningOutOfCharge · 28/11/2017 20:19

It's not a service it's the law!!

They can't just write off s piece of equipment because you say it doesn't work!!! They bed to see what's wrong......customers fucking things up happens more than you'd know!Grin

RunningOutOfCharge · 28/11/2017 20:20

*need

BlondeB83 · 28/11/2017 20:23

Repair or replace. Let them repair it.

SandyDenny · 28/11/2017 20:26

It's frustrating but they are entitled to offer a repair.

I'd push for a replacement but as the law isn't on your side you might catch more flies with honey
