Would you send your child to nursery...

My eldest hasn't been for 2 weeks as she's had a very nasty cold (she was prem with resp distress, so gets things quite bad)

She's not 100% better, but doesn't have a temp and doesn't need calpol, so in nursery rules, she's good to go in.

I've just had a email to say that they'd had V&D at their site and slapped cheek at their sister nursery, which staff go between..

Usually I'd take the chance and so far she's been fine.

But with her still being a bit sniffly, would you take the risk this close to 'the holidays'?

Do you send your little ones if nursery have confirmed cases of something?

Just to add - She's 4, I'm a sahm so won't miss work etc

The holidays are 4 weeks away. If she's well enough to go I'd send her, you can catch illnesses anywhere.

NellGin · 28/11/2017 10:16

Given that’s she’s been off for 2 weeks poorly and isn’t completely better I would keep her off personally. Hope she’s soon on the mend.

Crunchymum · 28/11/2017 10:18

If the D&V outbreak is severe enough to warrant an email, if give it a swerve. Although I'm an emetophobe.

Anatidae · 28/11/2017 10:19

I’d keep her off if you’re a sahm. Last thing you want is a vomiting bug.

Ds is at nursery today still not 100% although has had three clear days between last fever and him going so that staff say he’s fine. I feel horribly guilty about it but work are bastards and I’m covering three peoples jobs so I don’t have the choice.

Keep her off and give her a cuddle

Glumglowworm · 28/11/2017 10:52

The holidays are irrelevant really since they're weeks away

But I would assume the D&V must be fairly prolific for them to have emailed so I would probably keep her home since you're s SAHP so do have the choice, and she's not fully recovered from her last bout of illness

Ttbb · 28/11/2017 10:54

I wouldn't send her in if the dV was a big problem.

Familyof3or4 · 28/11/2017 11:25

Yabu to call it V&D, it’s D&V. Grin

But I’d keep her off with this going around, not because of the end of her cold virus.

Frederickvonhefferneffer · 28/11/2017 11:27

Keep her off till after the holidays.

Cornettoninja · 28/11/2017 11:34

There's been a vomiting flu-type bug going round near me and tbh it's been fairly merciless and difficult to avoid. Dd started perking up after two weeks....

Unhelpfully I'm not sure. Maybe give her a bit longer to regain a bit of strength but I think it's a losing battle against some of the bugs that go round.

insancerre · 28/11/2017 11:36

I would send her
I see no reason not to

SomewhatIdiosyncratic · 28/11/2017 11:39

No harm being done if she doesn't attend. You're not missing work, she's not under obligation to attend (I'm sure nursery would have been in contact if attendance was already affecting a funded position). A few days to get more resilience up could make a positive difference to her.

Skyechasemarshalontheway · 28/11/2017 13:55

Random thought why do we call its d and v when the v in most cases comes before the d 🤔

I would keep her off until 100 percent if we had had an email.
