Recommends for fitness at home for chubsters like myself??
I’m Middle aged, size 18 ish and pretty unfit so looking for something I can do in the privacy of my own home for beginners.
Walk 10K-15k steps daily anyway and a bit of yoga but get breathless quickly.
Please don’t tell me to join a park run or military fitness or something like that Cos i’m Not going to let the world see me in leggings any time soon! Ta

Go on YouTube and look up Joe Wicks 'the body coach'. He has lots of HIIT workouts for all levels, short and free.

I got the Charlotte Crosby one, they have a man who does the easier version, then she does the harder version.

I found it challenging and once I’d got a bit fitter could move on to copying her instead. I then got pregnant and ate everything I saw so can’t comment on any long term results Blush

Try Leslie Sanson good starting point for a beginner

You can find pretty much any type of workout video on YouTube for free. Definitely the best way to figure out which ones you like without having to actually pay for anything. FitnessBlender is a good YouTube channel with lots of different types of workout videos

I bought Davina McCall 15 minute workouts. I was happy knowing it was a short set time

I was pushing a size 20 and joined a female running group couch to 5k in May. I am now getting close to a 14 and can run 4 miles which I do 3 times a week and I have started doing sit ups and press ups and leg squats in sets of 30 x 5 on my non run days. I was so embarrassed about running in public in leggings but did get some comments mainly positive. Plus to add I have huge boobs just to give areseholes more to comment on. Anyway the point I am making is running with a group gave me the confidence I needed plus they are all so lovely. I really would try and find a group. I am a different person now plus I have some new friends.

And I am 40.

RavingRoo · 28/11/2017 06:56

Try upping your speed when you walk. Try doing the 10-15k steps a day all in one go. I went from an 18 to a 14 just by that. If you then want to become smaller than a 14 you can start thinking about accountable exercise classes (i.e public ones).

MyrandaRoyce · 28/11/2017 07:23

It’s pretty old now but I love the Pump It Up workout by Ministry of Sound, aerobics type workout with 5 sections so you can mix and match if you don’t have time to do the whole thing. I’ve had the dvd for about 13 years but noticed that it’s on YouTube.

30 Day Shred. I'm pretty sure it's on YouTube. It's not as awful as it sounds, the best thing about it is that it's short (30m including warm up and cool down). It also has adaptations of most of the exercises depending on if you're less/more fit. I fIind it harder to work up motivation for workouts that are 45m - 1hr so this one is perfect.

jaseyraex · 28/11/2017 09:05

Joe Wicks "The Body Coach" is incredible, I swear by him for losing weight and getting fit. He's got 4 cook books and 2 dvds out. He does HIIT workouts so they're 30mins max, very easy to fit in to your day. If you can afford to, sign up to his 90 day plan on his website. I lost 2 stone and a mountain of inches and am fitter than I've ever been in my life. Couldn't recommend him enough.

Brilliant thanks for the suggestions,

I like Davina maccoll dvds.

YouBetterWORK · 28/11/2017 10:48

I can advocate 30 day shred. There's 2 versions of the exercises so you can start with the basic and work up, and for about 20 minutes of the hardcore stuff you don't half sweat! But you can feel yourself getting stronger every day.

I'm also a fan of the no nonsense stuff Jillian comes out with: "I want you to feel like you're going to die" Grin
