Afternoon tea Christmas gift for family member

Over the past couple of years, I've bought a voucher for afternoon tea at the Landmark hotel in London as a Christmas present for a very close family member, along with some chocolates or something similar.

She's really enjoyed it (we've gone together both times). It's a really nice chance for both of us to catch up with it each other.

I'm just wondering if I should get the same thing this year, or if there are really nice afternoon teas that I could book instead? Aibu to ask you for your recommendations please?

I don't have any suggestions I'm afraid, but I don't think there's any harm in getting the same gift again, even if it seems 'off' in your head.

Trying to be original is why people end up with mountains of tat.

Better to get something they enjoy then something they don't need for the sake of it

I love afternoon teas

Why don’t you go to a different hotel each year - it’s the same but different each time.

If it has been enjoyed then I'd consider it but maybe change the venue. Some places do specialist afternoon teas such as chocolate themed or with cocktails.

We've purchased vouchers for tea at fortnums which went down well. Also the grand in Brighton if that is easy to get to for you.

I would mix things up a bit by doing a champagne brunch - same concept, just a twist

MyrandaRoyce · 27/11/2017 12:48

Oh the Landmark is lovely, I’m sure she wouldn’t mind going there again!
If you want to mix it up maybe Sketch? The Wolseley is also really nice.

PinkHeart5914 · 27/11/2017 12:50

I’d book it again but for a different place, variety is good!

dingdongdigeridoo · 27/11/2017 12:54

I’d go for a different one. There are so many afternoon teas in London that you’ll never be able to do them all. If she likes the Landmark then she’ll love any of the big classics like the Ritz, Claridges or fortnum & masons tea rooms.

FannytheW0nderDog · 27/11/2017 12:55

Fortnum & Mason's is great for afternoon tea and a wander around. Claridge's and the Savoy are on my wish list.

I'd stick to afternoon tea but mix it up with a differwnt hotel.

Mandarin oriental in Hyde park is my favourite.

FurryDogMother · 27/11/2017 12:59

I really enjoyed the afternoon tea at the Savoy when I went there for a friend's hen do a couple of years ago. Wonderful scones and bottomless tea!

bimbobaggins · 27/11/2017 13:31

I’d just keep going with the afternoon tea but as others have said get it for a different hotel.

hollygolipo · 27/11/2017 13:35

Browns in Albemarle St is fantastic ...

HaHaHmm · 27/11/2017 13:39

Claridge's is wonderful but a little bit more expensive than the Landmark.

Fortnum's is lovely and a similar price point.
