For not drying up

This is going to be really tribal but it's a massive argument starter in our house...

So I do most of the household chores, the one thing mybhisbsnd cannot stand doing is the washing up! If we have a full dinner then I wash up and dry up.

However hubby quite often works shifts so it's sometimes me and DC on our own so we have a smaller dinner. I always make sure I wash up of a night but sometimes I will leave it to dry and put it aeay in the morning.

This literally drives my husband insane! I did this last night and he just rung up and had a 5 minute shouting session down the phone as some of the glasses have water marks on them, and because he can't be bothered to put the stuff away!

So does anyone else not always dry up?

I would have hung up on him the second he started shouting at me.

We never dry up. things dry in the air unless you live in a pineapple under the sea. They dont get water marks if you rinse the suds off (or dont look that hard).
But even of they did, surely polishing them is just the same as drying them, and just doing it would be less hassle than phoning your wife to shout at her.

mustbemad17 · 24/11/2017 17:05

I never dry up. Everything gets left to air dry then I put it away when I can be bothered! How dare he think it's okay to have a go - i'd be making a point of doing it every day tbh!

Bambamber · 24/11/2017 17:06

In the time he took to phone you and shout at you he could have got at least some of it dried and put away himself. What a tool

StoatofDisarray · 24/11/2017 17:07

I'm with you, OP: YANBU!
I never dry up either. Tell him to jog on. You can buy a little mesh tray to stand wet glasses on so that they dry without leaving water marks, BTW. Not that I bother...

nocoolnamesleft · 24/11/2017 17:08

He's yelling at you because he can't be arsed to do any household chores but is unhappy about how you are doing them. He needs to fuck off.

TheQueenOfWands · 24/11/2017 17:08

He phoned up to shout at you because glasses have water marks on them?

KTB. What a Princess.

I never dry up. Why would you? Far more interesting things to do.

gamerchick · 24/11/2017 17:09

Well he could always do it himself if he doesn't like the way you do it!

Mind, it would be a very brave husband who would ring me and yell at me for something so small. Very brave.

This.

ClareB83 · 24/11/2017 17:13

My rule is I can do it or you can have an opinion about how it's done, but not both.

The self entitled bastard thinking he can avoid doing chores and get indignant about how they're done.

Do not stand for this. He better apologise and never do it again. And whilst you're at it you can work out a fairer way of dividing chores.

Somethingfantastic89 · 24/11/2017 17:14

I never dry up. Waste of time like all chores that can be avoided

MadForlt · 24/11/2017 17:15

KTB? That's a bit severe..

(assuming k stands for kill...

But yeah, he's an arse. Air drying is better. No soggy tea towels to wash.

dementedpixie · 24/11/2017 17:15

I often leave stuff drying on the drainer. Can't believe he phoned shouting about it when he could have taken less time to dry out himself. Hope you hung up on him!

WineAndTiramisu · 24/11/2017 17:22

I'm not sure I've ever dried anything!

Maybe suggest a dishwasher for a joint Christmas present?
Or tell him it's now fully his job to do seeing as he's not happy Grin
