To be considering liposuction

I’m slim everywhere but my lower belly. (Thanks to 3 large babies!) no loose skin just a pocket of stubborn fat. I am a size 8 and have a lowish BMI of about 21 and wouldn’t want to be any thinner as I really like my body apart from my belly. My belly almost disappears if go below a certain weight but then I look ill. But despite a healthy diet and years of daily pilates the bastard little stubborn fat pocket remains 😑 basically I look a tiny bit preggerz ALL the time 😞

So I’ve booked to see a surgeon in dec 9th about Vaser lipsuction

I feel very vain tbh but it gets me down. So wanted to ask Has anyone else had lipo for this kind of thing? What were your results like? Recovery etc ?

I haven't had it but I'm looking into it, will watch this thread for advice.

MoistCantaloupe · 24/11/2017 12:16

I haven't but just wanted to add that you shouldn't feel vain. There is nothing wrong with wanting to feel good about yourself.

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 24/11/2017 12:29

Agree with PP. Seems like the ideal situation to get lipo.

A friend had it on her thighs and said by the time she was allowed to workout again she put the fat back on they they'd taken off do it was a waste for her, but I think she was pretty thin to begin with. Also it's different to just fixing the one imperfection like you mention.

CopperHandle · 24/11/2017 12:37

I've had it. Don't underestimate the trauma on your body, the difficulty of going under general anaesthetic and that the results aren't properly visible for 12 months or more. And that the results aren't guaranteed.

Having said that I don't regret it and would (probably do it again). It was A LOT of money though.

Look at revitalize in turkey or elite cosmetic surgery they are far more advanced than U.K. Better after care personal chef you stay in a villa and are cheaper. I have used both. I recommend both highly. Look on their social media

430West · 24/11/2017 12:57

I've had it (on my thighs though) and it is one of the best things I have done.

Similar to you, I am very slim, just had horrible saddlebag thighs...

Worth every penny.

430West · 24/11/2017 12:58

I was offered local anaesthesia, but opted for the general the end which was a doddle.

Saw results after a couple of weeks.

AnonEvent · 24/11/2017 13:07

I'm a bit wodgy all over (size 14-16, carry weight on my abdomen and thighs post c-section) I presume it would be a bit of a waste of time on me until I slim-down a bit (otherwise they'd be liposuctioning EVERYTHING).

But in answer to your question OP - I'd have no judgement whatsoever if you, or anyone else, got a bit of lipo, your body, your budget, I'd be quite excited for you if you were my friend!

expatmigrant · 24/11/2017 13:40

I had lip on my thighs a few years ago. Best decision I ever made. I'm also slim and have a very flat stomach but my thighs were chunky despite regular running and cycling, so I had them lipoed and look much more in proportion now and can wear all the jeans I always wanted to. you have my vote.

If I were you OP I'd get checked out by a women's health specialist physio first, get them to check your abdominal separation (Diastasis Recti). Liposuction may not get the results you want if your tummy is being caused by DR, because looking pregnant despite being a healthy weight can be caused by the separation (not the layer of fat, which is meant to be there).

HorseItIntoMe · 24/11/2017 15:05

I wondered about diastasis recti. But no there’s definitely no separation. My abs are absolutely rock hard (under the fat 🤣)

Thanks for the posts glad no one thinks I’m too vain haha x

Yanbu OP - if it makes you feel better and you can afford it

lackingimagination · 25/11/2017 22:17

Not to hijack your thread but can I throw another question in here please... Does lipo help with cellulite? I am considering it for my thighs (very out of proportion to the rest of my body similar to previous posters). My thighs are currently riddled with cellulite front and back - have been since I was 15. Should I expect the cellulite to get better or just to have slimmer thighs with the same cellulite?

MaidOfStars · 25/11/2017 22:44

I’m a pear. Bloody saddlebags. I’m size 6, BMI 19, run bloody marathons and lift heavy weights, but cannot shift the palm-sized bulge on my outer thighs.

Have completely considered lipo. A friend had residual fat in the same place and it worked like a dream.

lacking I’m 40 and my thigh cellulite finally vanished last year after completely overhauling my diet. Despite being thin, even skinny, now, it creeps back a little if I have a month of crap eating (processed carbs, sweet stuff).

FinalGirl · 25/11/2017 23:05

lacking lipo didn't help my cellulite. But getting rid of my disproportionate saddlebags did make the cellulite easier to tolerate.

I had lipo twelve years ago. It was very freeing in a lot of ways. I started to exercise for the sake of being fit and strong rather than because I was trying to get rid of a part of my body that realistically, wasn't going anywhere. In turn that massively boosted my self esteem and confidence.

If you can afford it, I say go for it.

HorseItIntoMe · 26/11/2017 08:48

Lacking I don’t know tbh! I’d guess it would help as it’s fat that causes cellulite (I think?) so if the fats reduced I guess the cellulite would too?

I have also been reading about “fat freezing” ....it’s way less invasive and a lot cheaper. But sounds too good to be true?! Anyone tried that ??

OP posts:
HorseItIntoMe · 26/11/2017 08:51

And final I think I would feel like that too! I love exercising and the way it makes me feel but it depresses me that it isn’t (and won’t) get rid of my little tummy. So it would be nice to exercise to be fit and strong for its own sake. rather than it getting me down that despite all my hard work I’m still not happy with my body

OliviaBenson · 26/11/2017 09:12

Watching with interest. There a place local
to us that does the fat freezing thing. I'd love to know if it works.

fleurjasmine · 26/11/2017 09:13

It's probably more likely they will tell you to have a stomach tuck.

HorseItIntoMe · 26/11/2017 16:49

Yeah me too Olivia!

Fleur I hope not I wouldn’t fancy that 😱. I think I’d just put up with the chub 😂

Cryolipolysis - I had that done upper and lower abdomen along with radio frequency and cavitation using the 3D Lipo machine. Absolute waste of money. 8 weeks of drinking 2-3 litres of water a day exercise, healthy eating and the smallest difference which was probably down to the lifestyle change. So I have just had a mini tummy tuck and Lipo in my upper abdomen. I’m size 10, 9 stone and had that stubborn fat that would not shift after 2 pregnancies.
