For Christmas, that is?

This will be the first year I will have had a single, consistent cleaner all year and hopefully into the new year and beyond.

So for her last clean before Christmas, I would like to give her something, but I don't know what's appropriate? A bottle of champagne and/or chocolates or something? Or perhaps a cash bonus? And if the cash, how much - in percentage terms - on top of what I pay her weekly?

Thanks!

Mine goes away over Christmas so I've bought her a travel set of fancy smellies.

DancingLedge · 23/11/2017 18:50

Weeks that's what decent clients used to give.
Most people cleaning houses are not doing it for exercise, or because it was a long held ambition.
Don't buy me biscuits, chocs, smellies, etc - might be very well meant, but such a shame if not ones that I like.
Money towards Christmas expenses, I preferred and appreciated.

I give one week's wage (55£) + a small gift like candle or chocolates for ex

livingthegoodlife · 23/11/2017 18:57

One weeks wages and a box of nice m&s chocolate biscuits (the extra chocolatey ones). She really it last year so will do the same this year.

This is so useful especially hearing from those in the know! I keep going back and forth between cash, vouchers or gift.

My cleaner is off to get face fillers next week so maybe some wrinkle cream!!!!

IceFall · 23/11/2017 19:02

would feel wrong to give her as much as I spend on my mum!

@CantChoose I don't think of it as a christmas present but as a bonus / retention tool / thanks for the hard work.

I was heading out for a massage last week when my cleaner arrived, and she was saying how lovely it sounded and how that's something she always means to do but never gets around to.

So I'll be getting her a massage voucher.

We are a domestic cleaning service and this is what our staff have told us they prefer:

By FAR the most preferred thing they all love and post about in our private staff facebook page is a card with lovely genuine feedback for them, just so they know how much their work means to clients and how they are treasured, some have said this means FAR more than any present. When I was a solo cleaner I felt this way too!

Second fave is cash within that card because lots need extra for Christmas expenses!

Third fave is wine! Grin

ALL presents are really appreciated and talked about though!

Mightybanhammer · 23/11/2017 19:16

Spooky! I was thinking this too.
My cleaner is great and has been working for me for just under a year. I have upped her hours from twice a month to weekly. Don't know her too well yet so I thought perhaps two weeks' wages and a small gift- maybe chocs or something.
And yes I thought sooner rather than later would be good too.
I so wish I had invested in this kind of help years ago. Such a difference it makes. I would go so far as to say it could even have saved my marriage.

A weeks wages.

mousemoose · 23/11/2017 19:19

We had amazing cleaner (and were better off) gave months wages in Chrissy card. Now we are skint and have truly lovely but terrible cleaner who has caused us approx 900£ in damages this year Shock and who is leaving anyway (not fired!) so gave just over weeks wages in card and box of marksys chocs (there’s a really nice one half off). Not glam but respectful and as much as I can afford is what I thought.

SilverySurfer · 23/11/2017 19:22

I usually give her £50 plus buy her a plant or something I think she will like.
