To buy my dog shoes? Lighthearted

Sorry posting on here for traffic, I didn't know which topic would be better.

I have a small house and a small(ish) dog.
I've just had my fabric sofas professionally cleaned and I have also bought a new rug for the lounge as we are expecting a baby soon and the floor is tiled so needed something to cushion it.

Only problem is the dog at this time of the year! As the house is small the door to the back garden is in the lounge so the immediate mess/mud etc ends up in there once she comes back in from being let outside. Her favourite used to be to jump straight on the sofa and leave paw prints if she was wet/muddy but I've now stopped her from doing that. However I'm worried about her running straight in and over the grey rug that will soon turn black Sad

AIBU to buy her wellies she has to take off once she gets back in?

I too have a dirt and mud magnet Dog. I used to spray the method cleaner and wipe the floor twice a day. My DMIL witnessed this for a couple of days and told me I was mad to do this. She went away and came back the next day with a mat that she made. She cut up some old duvet covers, stitched a few bits together and put it over the mat. It is super absorbant and easily washable. She has made me 4 of those Grin No more dirty floors, sofas or rugs in this house.

Oh I feel your pain.
My kitchen floor looks like the bottom of a pond, and I am really lucky to have a back door into the kitchen and a back gate for when we come home form a walk.

We have a turtle mat. They are expensive, but they are good at soaking up mud. Our dog has a blanketty bed right by back door, and he has to go straight in it when muddy. As he walks across it and settles down, the mud soaks off he paws onto the blanket! So he only needs to stay there 10 seconds (well, when he has just been for a wee, after a walk is another matter)

bluebells, your pat sounds like it has the same effect as the blanket bed.
And of course trutle mat and blanket can be chucked in the wash

Pat? should be mat.

bluebells1 · 23/11/2017 17:28

Grin Yes. It was life changing and for that alone I am incredibly grateful to my MIL. She has been using up all her old duvet covers and bedding to make us these. I hear I am getting 3 more of them. Project for her, less work for me.

What are they made of? Are the duvet covers just the cotton covers? So basically like a sheet but several layers?

bluebells1 · 23/11/2017 21:43

Yes steppe Just cotton, she does layers and stitches them together. That way they stay thick and can also be used as a dog blanket. She is making one for the car boot as well.

Following a foot problem, my greyhound wore baby socks for a while. He wore size 6-9 months, they were very fetching. Possibility?

You need a Soggy Doggy Door Mat (no, I’m not kidding). I don’t know how to attach a link on my phone but if you google you’ll find it. Bloody marvellous. Get dog to wait/stand on it for about 10-20 seconds and voila - dry paws!
