Floaters and pain sat, floaters, pain and pins and needles in face Sun, just floaters and nausea yesterday and now out of the blue, thinking I was recovered, more pain and floaters. Can only take migrelief once in 24 hrs and nurofen doing nothing. I just hate them. Does anyone do anything else to help? It was months and months since I got one but now I've had two lasting a few days in 3m. I hate them!!!

I find the worst migraines I have had are those which I wake up with. They must start in the night and by the time I wake up and notice they are too bad to do anything about. I would honestly rather go through labour than have a bad migraine

Yes! I just had a week of the migraines you wake up with. It was horrid... And I'm used to migraines.

Agree about the ones that begin in the night - I always have bad dreams and wake early and know I am in for a very bad day (or 3).

It’s not just coke that helps it’s any caffeine so make a strong coffee.
Studies have shown 1000mg of aspirin is as affective as triptans in many people.
I try that but usually is triptans as that’s the only thing that really works for me. I always take them with caffeine. Migraine slows down your digestive system and caffeine speeds it up so it means you absorb the meds much faster.

Did anyone see the report on BBC Breakfast this morning about a new preventative drug that has been developed? Apparently it was v successful in clinical trials and is a big deal because it's been developed specifically for migraines, rather than for high blood pressure, depression, etc. They were interviewing a neurologist who said it had no side effects either! It sounds as though it's something that people would need to self-inject though. No indication of if/when it might be on the market or available on the NHS. I just wondered if anyone else had seen it?

MiraiDevant · 30/11/2017 07:50

Yes, I heard that report. Hopeful news.

My worst are over now though so a bit late for me. I had years of them - every two weeks , blinding, terrible, 3 days in bed, vomiting badly. Better post menopause, now ever six weeks or so and dull. I really do hope this lives up to the hope: migraines blight lives

PrivateParkin · 30/11/2017 07:54

I agree Marai. They didn't mention the cost of the drug did they, but surely there must be so much productivity lost to migraines, it would be cost-effective to have on the NHS.

Just tried this after having migraine for two days. Pain is now only a whisper. Thank you.

Those who gave up sugar - can you tell me what you were eating before you gave up sugar, and now what do you eat? I crave sugar before and during a migraine, which means that during a bad patch of headaches I end up continually stuffing myself with sugary snacks
