and you came out to a job to clean two sofas in a tiny house.

How bad would you expect them to be?
Would you pass comments on their condition?

I suffer from a bit of anxiety and have had a hard couple of years. The house has been a bit of a construction site due to several different factors. We live in a tiny house with a toddler, a dog and a cat. It's hard to keep on top of due to its small size as clutter just appears out of nowhere and it needs daily hoovering and lots of dusting and constant cleaning etc but I have recently started tackling it.

The sofas we have are in terrible condition, they were expensive when we bought them, they are fabric and over the last 2-3years they've had minimal maintenance (aka me taking the cushions off the frame and getting rid of all the crap that's accumulated there/odd vacuum). There's been food, milk and other substances spilled down them, they have stains all over even though at first glance it seems "a bit" dirty once you have a proper look they're awful. It's terrible.
I have finally booked a company to come and clean them and stain guard them. Once they're done I'm putting throws on and there's a no food policy being introduced in the lounge as we've finally renovated our kitchen and can have proper meals in there (long story).

But I've just taken and hoovered all the cushions and got rid of all the crap in between them and I'm having a mini panic attack as to what the poor people are going to think of me when they arrive to clean and see the disgusting state the sofas are in. Will they demand more money? Will they comment on it?

AIBU to be panicking as I really don't know what companies like this expect when they come out to a residential job? Sad

I can guarantee your house won't be the worst they've seen by a long shot. PLease don't worry.

Have a look at some of the before and after shots on here, particularly the first carpet one Shock

If you care about what they think about you, blame "the tenants" who have left the property in "such a horrendous state". job done!

AJ65 · 21/11/2017 12:46

You're paying them to clean the sofas, no point in doing that if they're not dirty!

AlpacaPicnic · 21/11/2017 12:50

Similar to Coddiwomple - could you have 'inherited' these sofas that have 'been in storage'?
That way it's someone else's muck Wink

Honestly though, they probably won't care and will be happy to do a good job.

They will not bat an eyelid. Think of it like a car valet. Some cars are already clean when they arrive. Some are filthy. They clean them all and are glad of the work

FGSholdthedoor · 21/11/2017 13:13

Wish I could blame it on tenants but it would be quite obvious.

@BarbaraofSevillle thanks those pics did make me feel a bit better.

I suppose I'm just embarrassed at how bad they are, especially since I didn't realise they were that terrible until I took them apart today.

I really hope they'll just shrug and tackle it.
