To think a boiler service shouldn't take this long

Boiler is one year old and engineer is still doing the boiler service two hours after they arrived. Is this normal? I just want to relax and have lunch.

Oh. mine took just over two hours.

Yes

They have to be thorough. There is a whole checklist of stuff that has to be tested & the engineer is signing his name to say everything is safe. If he makes a dangerous error it's not only his job on the line but he could be prosecuted.

Thanks i expected it to be thirty minute to an hour max. I'll know for next time.

Mine took exactly one hour.

Mine took an hour and a half last week. Ours is a very old boiler. Engineer was very thorough, though. It is annoying, but better safe than sorry.

My boiler is 15 years old. I think I had it serviced once. Not convinced there was any benefit to that. (It has been expensively repaired several times though. Design fault that mean circuit board keeps failing, servicing wouldn't prevent it.)

Ours is about 10 years old and it takes about 45 mins each time. It's done annually under the Corgi home plan.

Nikephorus · 20/11/2017 15:19

Wow, mine is usually under 30 mins I think & that includes the paperwork. Granted it is under 10 years old.
