Mine is appalled that there’s no avocado for breakfast. Cue eye rolling, stomping, slammed door. Anyone else?

JustHope · 20/11/2017 09:31

Because I asked her to roll her uniform skirt down. I could actually see her bum when she walked. Apparently everyone at school wears their skirt like this and I’m just being so ridiculous.

saltandvinegarcrisps1 · 20/11/2017 09:34

That we won't spend a grand on top of the range phone for her Christmas.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 20/11/2017 09:35

Because I had the cheek to wake him up at 8am to enquire if he had sixth form this morning, when he doesn't have to be in until 11am, so didn't need to wake up any earlier than 9am. Obviously.

Misseuropadiscodancer · 20/11/2017 09:38

Because she had to go to school today. I am clearly unreasonable for asking her 1000 times to get out of bed, eat breakfast, get dressed. I’m awful and she hates me.Confused

CheeseyToast · 20/11/2017 09:38

Tinkie not the charger!!! The subject of so many meltdowns 🙄

OP posts:
ShatnersBassoon · 20/11/2017 09:40

The cat meowed at some point in the night, once, downstairs. This caused bone-aching fatigue, so this week is a write-off.

thatcatpidgeon · 20/11/2017 09:40

Last night when we asked him to get off his computer at 9pm (because EVERBODY ELSES PARENTS let their 13 year olds play on their computer until 2am every night dontya know!)

TheSecondOfHerName · 20/11/2017 09:46

Because all of the notes he wrote in Y12 were 'shit' and now he wants to redo a year's work on top of his current homework, two large pieces of coursework, UCAS application and part-time job.

And also because his desk isn't quite deep enough to fit a laptop with an A4 file in front of it.

stormnigel · 20/11/2017 09:52

My very nearly 12 year old so not even a teen yet sent me a very angry text for staying too long in the parking area after dropping her and her friends at school because it was embarrassing. I stayed as long as it took dd2 to get from back to front seat, indicate and pull away.
😳😂

CheeseyToast · 20/11/2017 09:56

Storm that’s terrible but I did laugh. They seem to be infused with rage from waking till lights out.

glitterbiscuits · 20/11/2017 10:04

I love this!

Mine refused to finish telling us his news/ anecdote in the car because I had the temerity to say ‘turn left’ to my DH who was driving, so we didn’t get lost.
Teenager just stopped mid sentence.

And if he ever tries to show me anything on his phone if my eyes don’t focus in a nanosecond I am not allowed to look.

Oblomov17 · 20/11/2017 10:07

Because all his friends parents let them:
play on phone till 2am.
But them a pile of named superdry/lacoste stuff regularly.

Also unreasonable:
for telling him off for hitting ds2
for hiding the x box games from ds2
That's I have suggested he might need a maths tutor.
Suggesting he does do DoE, even though he thinks its rubbish.
That's he should be revising by now, for his exams in 3 weeks.

he is permanently saying that life is rubbish in our house and that he hates us all.......

CheeseyToast · 20/11/2017 10:09

There isn’t actually anything that is acceptable for a parent to say or do other than “here’s some money”

OP posts:
fleshmarketclose · 20/11/2017 10:22

It has been a long weekend Hmm Today's sulks that I know about are that I spoke louder than a whisper this morning and gave her a headache. That it's school today and she only got two hours yesterday to play her new Skyrim game. That it's cold in the house today in spite of me putting the heating on an hour before she got up and the thermostat showing 21 degrees. That I didn't put her phone on charge when I got up this morning even though it shows 83% and she isn't allowed it on in school and so only needs enough charge for the ten minute car ride there and back before she can charge it herself. That I told her to have a good day and I loved her and would see her later.I think that is it from the 45 minutes she was in my presence this morning Hmm Thank God I won't see her til 3pm now anyway Grin

jimijack · 20/11/2017 10:22

It's mock exams week. What's the point?? Why on earth does he need to do this?

Also, chocolate chip cookies are the ONLY foodstuffs available for breakfast today because apparently cereals, fruit or toast take too long....then I got the "are you fucking stupid?" look.

Somethingfantastic89 · 20/11/2017 10:24

There isn’t actually anything that is acceptable for a parent to say or do other than “here’s some money”
Grin
And "yes sure I'll drop you off and pick you up at/from wherever you want whatever time you want"

jimijack · 20/11/2017 10:26

Oh shatner, that has made my belly ache from stifling giggles as the electrician is here and I'm pretending to do work stuff... Thanks xxx

Somethingfantastic89 · 20/11/2017 10:27

Sulk list this morning:

The school has stupid rules.
Everyone's mums let them wear whatever they like to school, except old boring me.
I said "love you, have a great day" as she was leaving - eye rolls and "whatever mum"

I'm loving this thread lol

JemimaMuddledUp · 20/11/2017 10:33

Because I told them that if they wanted a lift to school on my way to work, thereby avoiding a half mile walk to the bus stop in the rain, they needed to be in the car by 7:55am or I would leave without them.

13yo was in the car as requested. 15yo and 11yo were still faffing about and I was totally unreasonable to expect them to be ready.

Innocentbystander01 · 20/11/2017 10:57

Teenager dd 1 - that I won't give her money for college anymore as college have complained she is bringing in energy drinks and won't stop. So I will give her busfare and a packed lunch from now on and she's got the face on.

Teenager dd2- calm so far

Teenager dd3 - calm

11 year old who thinks she's a teen -
Her hair is too long and she looks like a potato
She needs a SIM card for her phone

Nikephorus · 20/11/2017 11:59

There isn’t actually anything that is acceptable for a parent to say or do other than “here’s some money”
Except that it won't be acceptable because it won't be enough money!!

BigSandyBalls2015 · 20/11/2017 12:01

Oh another one - I made DD2 scrambled egg this morning - DD1 had a strop "You never do that for me" - Errr you hate eggs, you only ever eat cereal for breakfast - "that's not the point at all".

PavlovianLunge · 20/11/2017 12:22

...not the lovely Lilly with two L's...

You could point out that it’s Lilly with the three L’s, that should be good for some fireworks. Grin

thefairyfellersmasterstroke · 20/11/2017 12:49

Fab thread!

No new sulks from DS yet as he won't get out of bed, but he's probably still in a huff from yesterday when I cruelly and heartlessly wouldn't buy ostrich burgers. I'm not buying them today either, so this one could run and run.

ElasticatedJeans · 20/11/2017 12:52

I told my DS that if he gets one more behaviour point before Christmas for “talking during the lesson” at school then I will ground him for a month.

Apparently I don’t understand that he needs to communicate with his friends and I don’t understand how hard it is not to talk. His friends mums, on the other hand, “get it” and therefore they are “cool” and I’m not cool.

Never mind. If he chats again during lessons, and gets caught, he’ll have 30 days to think about how uncool I am
