Pissed off at a random photographer

Earlier today my DP was parking his car when a woman walked over to him and told him that she had taken a picture of his car bonnet (Not sure when said pic was taken)

The car had been in a accident when owned by previous owner and so the paint work on the bonnet has a "speckled" effect on it.
The woman said she liked the way the "speckled" effect looked in the light so she took a picture (bonnet only) and sold it for £400 on a photography website.
I've been pissed off about this ever since.

The copyright would apply to the specific photo she took. She does not now own the sole right to photograph your bonnet.

Take a picture for us OP! Grin

Yes, but she doesn't own your bonnet - if you take photos of your bonnet they're yours to sell ;)

We don't know her so why bother coming over to tell DP in the first place!

I would assume because it’s interesting and she wanted to share that? I would wonder why your prevailing response was annoyance rather than curiosity.

OP your being rather pathetic to not appreciate that some photographers make money taking random photo's. I assume the photographer was rather proud of her accomplishments as it's certainly not an easy way to make money.
Do you think people who take architectural photo's of the underside of bridges and church windows "ask" for permission or share the proceeds??
