I know people who have worked as part of his crew on tour and he is a paranoid and nasty piece of work. His recent comments don't surprise me at all as he has this holier than thou god complex.

The 'truth' is that a 14 year old boy, who probably, because he was a 14 year old boy thought he was a man and was taken advantage of by adults- his alleged abuser and presumably his star struck parents who let him do what he wanted in exchange for a chance of fame and riches. I know lots of musicians and others who work in the music industry in various roles. Every single one who's ever had any dealings at all with Morrissey will tell you that he's a grade A nob. And also that his vegetarianism is a sham. The latter point may sound like nitpicking but given his recent outbursts and nasty, Daily Mailesque views one wonders just how much of his leftie posturing in the 80s was a just cynical ploy to sell records. He always did seem like a caricature. Maybe now he's sold his millions of records and is sitting comfortably on a massive pile of cash he feels he can be true to himself at last, banging on about immigrants and Brexit from his expat bolt hole.

Exactly. Members of his tour crew are sacked if they aren't wearing a Morrisey t.shirt at a specific time the day of a concert. He also has speakers rigged up in his dressing room so he can listen to the support band. If they don't kiss his arse or of say something that he interprets to be negative against him they are off the tour. The narcissistic twat.

I worked with him a very long time ago. He was the most unpleasant person I ever, ever worked with, and I worked with many people that are famously hard work. He was just vile.

I absolutely LOVE Morrissey, i think lyrically the man is a genius. Seen him live many times, and he never disappoints. What I have found with him recently, is that he is acutely aware that he’s getting less and less AirPlay/TV (although I would say he has done quite well with his latest album) so what he does is say something contentious around an album release (it was released last Friday) as he’s a firm believer that all publicity is good publicity. However I do wish he would stop this, it is starting to wear thin, and I know from the solo forums he’s pissing off more and more of his fans.

I would have agreed 20 years ago - 10 at a push - but his most recent stuff sounds like A-Level poetry.

I never did like him, I thought his insistence on having his biography printed as a Penguin classic was about the arse-iest thing anyone has ever done. He's always been like this, he hasn't changed and he will always be a monumental twunt-badger.

However, I like the fact that he's now saying what he thinks, it proves that I was right about him and allows me to terribly smug. Keep up the good work Mozzer.

Sorry OP, MarmaladeTwatkins was a name used by Bupcakes&Cunting for a while. Has threads in Classics (noteably the memorable one about the chocolate crispy cakes for the school fair, and the ghastly PA woman who slagged off said crispy cakes as being inferior to her lemon drizzle cake. Which was gopping because nobody bought it, ever, and PA woman tried to foist it onto the helpers afterwards.)
