To ask for ways to make money fast

buggeritall · 19/11/2017 17:29

DS dad was providing financially for a long time, we were comfortable enough, hand to mouth but always warm and fed etc then suddenly he quit his job and was unemployed so contributing the absolute minimum then got a new job... contributed again but over £100 less than he had when previously working. Now he's announced he's quitting that job too. He simply doesn't understand the impact and in terms of a feckless father... he pays exactly what he has to legally so sees no issue.

I've been looking for work. Have to organise it all around DS but I'm not working, not for lack of trying and I have a health condition that makes it a little less simple as not every job would be manageable

I literally need to find a way to earn money fast this week

I'm not asking for handouts and will simply go to the food bank if it comes to that...

Just any ideas on quickly raising some funds? I'm going into debt... used to do some online writing when in dire need of raising cash fast to cover a few days but that site closed down

UpWork or PeoplePerHour? Sell anything you don't need?

isseywithcats · 19/11/2017 17:33

have you got anything you could put on ebay if you have an established ebay account you can do three day listings, no good if you dont have an ebay account though as they make you wait 21 days with a new account, any gold you could take to scrap or pawn gives you 6 months breather, facebook selling pages, shpock for local like big toys etc

ilovesooty · 19/11/2017 17:33

Are you claiming benefits?

FannyWisdom · 19/11/2017 17:34

Do you have anything to pawn?
Old jewellery, electrical items, games console.
Any child items can be wiped down and shpocked.

Do you pay meters for utility?

monkeywithacowface · 19/11/2017 17:34

Do you have a car? Deliver parcels for Amazon Flex

Leaflet delivery My ds earns about £250 a week doing this (admittedly has to deliver ALOT for that)

ilovesooty · 19/11/2017 17:35

How does your ex manage to get by if he's quitting jobs voluntarily?

buggeritall · 19/11/2017 17:36

Thank you. Actually hadn't thought of selling! Stupidly.. and a few things I can sell!

Yes claiming benefits but stopped currently as I didn't sort out a medical certificate in time and missed an appointment... my fault for forgetting... and fixing tomorrow first thing.

Matched betting? NOT AT ALL the same as ordinary betting (there's a on running matched betting thread on MN would strongly advise joining and asking q's before starting)

buggeritall · 19/11/2017 17:38

Utility meters

Ex gets by as it's pocket money. He lives with a relative.

No car.

Selling is definitely the way to go this week I think!

Don't sell anywhere with a charge.
Take a few minutes to clear a well lit space for good pics.

Don't forget CEX although you can be loosed check trade in prices online and use the voucher towards Xmas freeing up a bit of cash.

MissFitton · 19/11/2017 17:43

Another vote for matched betting as a longer term idea to boost your income. It’s absolutely NOT gambling - there are long running threads in Money Matters to help you get started.

Salemslot789 · 19/11/2017 17:46

Can anyone provide the link to the matched betting thread?

buggeritall · 19/11/2017 17:49

I'd love to try matched betting but I don't really have anything disposable to begin with...

OP posts:
Cauliflowercheede · 19/11/2017 17:49

Don’t do matched betting unless you’ve got about £100 to begin with. I do it but you need that for the initial bets and liability over the first few weeks

FrayedHem · 19/11/2017 17:58

Not money making, but I think Milk and More may be doing a few promotions atm if you're in their delivery area. I saw one for free milk for 2 weeks. You'd have to play it carefully as it's direct debit so no immediate charge but need to watch when it's due. And obviously check the t&c on what you have to do but may be worth a look.

mamahanji · 19/11/2017 18:09

Matched betting. I started with £25 and I’m £130 in Profit 3 weeks later. They have an £8 start guide on team profit too. Honestly it’s completely risk free and all laid out in guides for you.

It does take quite a bit of time. But it’s the kind you can do on your phone in the evening with the telly on.

Lovemusic33 · 19/11/2017 18:10

Another vote for matched betting

wifeyhun · 19/11/2017 18:12

Matched betting will not make a quick enough profit I don't think. I started two years ago with £60 and was up to about £700 in 3 months.

It's great for long term though as I make a regular income each month now.

Pandapenguin · 19/11/2017 18:15

.

Pandapenguin · 19/11/2017 18:15

Watching with interest!

TyneTeas · 19/11/2017 18:45

Qmee surveys, you might be able to get a couple of quid in a few days and no minimum amount to transfer into PayPal

Panelbase surveys minimum to withdraw is £10, sometimes I can go weeks with hardly any then hit lucky quickly, may be worth a try

GrandDesespoir · 19/11/2017 18:47

Do you have any loyalty card points you could cash in?

Lonelynessie · 19/11/2017 19:04

Ebay - I made £90 in 3 days last week selling unused clothing (ankle boots and dresses in new/good quality).

ImAMarshmellow · 19/11/2017 19:10

I do match betting as well. Started with about £40 (the more you can use to start with, the quicker you will make money) I make a couple of hundred a month which suits me perfectly. I pay £17.99 per month to the site I use. Profit Accumulator has lots of guides and is fairly idiot proof.
Earnings don’t class an an income, you can still claim benefits and they are not affected.

ImAMarshmellow · 19/11/2017 19:27

The biggest downside is you’ll need to leave your money alone while you build a decent sized float.
