to not tell parents we're buying a house?

My parents and I have always had a fractured relationship. Throughout my teenage years we argued lots and I was thrown out countless times from the ages of 13 to 16 (when I finally moved out permanently). The most recent argument was 2 months ago and I haven't heard from them since. Since then DP and I have looked into buying our first house and decided to do it this year - we were previously thinking of leaving it another year to save a bit more. We've had an offer accepted on a house and just need to finalise dates to exchange the contract with our solicitors. AIBU in not telling my parents about this given our fractured relationship and current no contact?

Thanks all for reassuring me I'm not BU.

I get the feeling you're better off without them, full stop

^ it's never that straight forward though is it and is always more complicated. They've helped out with a few things over the years; helped when ex stole several thousand from me, helped me move once or twice over the years, fixed my car etc. Prior to this most recent argument it did feel like they didn't want to see me^, just DSD. Whilst it's lovely they wanted to spend time with her, I'd appreciate it if I was enough for them every once in a while.

And tell us about your lovely new house.

Well for starters it's further away from them Grin it needs a little bit of work doing on it but nothing overly urgent that would prevent us from moving in. One of the big points for us is it's in a little village close to the coast and a national park which is fantastic as we're big into the outdoors as a family Smile
