Went to Tesco and coop today and there’s a noticeable increase in prices on almost everything. What’s happened, or is it just my perception?

Food's too cheap. People treat it as a disposable commodity these days, particularly vegetables and bread. If it's more expensive maybe people may treat food with a little more respect rather than a God-given right to scoff themselves till full and throw what's left away

Butter went up 50%.

Energy prices went up 30% or more this year but no one noticed.

BTW I also agree that we've been cushioned for too long. It is apparently acceptable for foreigners to harvest our produce at slave wages, because the british won't work for that. About time we got real.

We won’t get real though we’ll just get immigrants from outside the EU to picks vegetables.

Most likely is the UK will go back to a Seasonal Workers scheme, which worked well enough before.

Poorer households were already buying bare minimum. Higher prices will cause more poverty.

More agricultural land is being turned into houses so we won’t be growing as much food, either. Nobody seems to be worrying about this. Our population is growing too and we won’t be able to access euro food on such good terms.
