To think ASDA advent pillows just aren't going to catch on???

I live in Ireland.

Asda 😫😡😫😡😫😡😫😡😫😡

Have had a nightmare... DH over in UK past few days and I had the bright idea of doing a George and Asda “click and collect”. For an Irish customer trying to organise this (and they do advertise delivery to ireland - but only for very selected stock) it’s shite! SHITE!!

So click and collect first stage give your postcode.. doesn’t accept Irish postcodes so put in MIL postcode. This then causes problems with Visa card as postcode doesn’t match with address associated with card. It then asks for a mobile number to send messages regarding order... but won’t accept an Irish mobile number.

So far this system has cumulated in us having to pay priority postage as George wouldn’t process our click and collect, and last night DH was left in Asda with a cancelled food click and collect due to card security issues (resultant from the Asda website inconsistencies in card address and billing address as we can’t put in our own address).

So if I haven’t bored you already with my Asda saga... it cumulated in me opening my George order at home in Ireland (after DH picking it up from MILs address in the UK) to find a pack of two pillows, instead of two advent calendars (picture of advent pillows attached).... WTAF Phoned George and they are happy to send replacement to my MIL in Wales but I live in Ireland. I explained to the woman this is your error and it needs to be remedied by you posting calendars to Ireland, obviously they are designed to be used from the first of December and my MIL is frail and in her 80s I don’t expect her to get to the post office and pay for our parcels to be sent on to Ireland so sending to her house again not an option. DH will not be in UK again until very close to Christmas. Awaiting phonecall from Asda in Leeds between 10-11am.

Obviously phonecall didn’t come, phoned again and spoke to customer services manager. Said again they can’t won’t do it - because if they did it for me they’d have to do it for everyone 🙄. That was the reason 🙄

AIBU expect ASDA to do their best to resolve this issue and send on the calendars to ireland? If they were clothes they would happily send them, but refuse as they are toys! Not huge heavy toys, certainly no heavier that a good coat and some jeans.

But monkey if he had opened it at MIL there would be difference in the outcome. We still would be without advent calendars.

The pillows were in a strong sturdy box. No way of knowing externally it was not advent calendars

There is an Asda in County Down (and a couple of other places in Ireland) so could they not phone them and get them to post them to you? I get annoyed at inflexibility too especially when the likes of Asda are in Ireland it just seems petty!

Izzadoraduncancan · 17/11/2017 17:17

MsWanna.... there is a difference between what they have to do, what they can do and what they should do. They made the error - after a series of errors in the past few days - the simple solution is to post the items on to Ireland. I explained if it were an item for Christmas I would be happy for them to post to MIL and DH would collect before Christmas.... however there is not much point in the kids getting their advent calendars on the 22nd of December!

Well the fact that they have stores in Ireland makes it completely ridiculous , they should be able to post them to you in that case .

Izzadoraduncancan · 17/11/2017 17:20

Absolutely... completely inflexible and no care for the customer. I was not being awkward for the sake of it. Any other items we had ordered would not have caused an issue as DH would have picked up just before Christmas. I would expect as this error was 100% their fault they would have attempted to resolve it as they DO post many items over here. It wasn’t a bed or a suite of furniture... it wouldn’t be very expensive for them

If you're looking for Lego advent calendars they've loads in Art & Hobby

Izzadoraduncancan · 17/11/2017 17:22

Maeve, do they have the playmobil one also?? I could pop in to Kilkenny. Have searched on line. Smyth’s are out of them except in Claremorris. Amazon don’t post them over here. Will give art and hobby a go. Thanks xx

Asda have branches in NI.
Can one of them not process your order?
I understand they would still have to post to you but surely it wouldn't be as big a deal from NI as it obviously is from Wales.

Izzadoraduncancan · 17/11/2017 17:33

Maverick, the order comes from George UK, I
asked if it could come via NI but no. They will
post over exactly the same size parcel of it contains clothes 🙄.
Artnhobby out of calendars in Kilkenny and Gorey

Use Parcel Motel or AddressPal. I get George deliveries through them. (Sligo)

inisfree · 17/11/2017 17:46

I agree with little ditty, parcel motel is brilliant in these instances, and op I feel your pain!!

Weedsnseeds1 · 17/11/2017 17:52

If you are anywhere near Nass, I will be there next week so could bring you a couple if our local ASDA has them

Weedsnseeds1 · 17/11/2017 17:53

Naas

NeedMoreSleepOrSugar · 17/11/2017 18:53

Could they/you use parcel motel to get them delivered? Friends in Ireland use it all the time for uk deliveries (especially amazon) - there's a small cost but perhaps asda can cover that

Tringley · 17/11/2017 19:21

Heatons have playmobil advent calenders for €14. And use Parcel Motel/Parcel Wizard/Addresspal in future.

SingaSong12 · 17/11/2017 19:34

I don't know Ireland well - are there no large supermarket chains that deliver a full range of goods? If Asda are stupid enough to only deliver a small amount of stuff make a complaint to them and shop elsewhere until they change.

theymademejoin · 17/11/2017 20:34

Here's one on donedeal - www.donedeal.ie/toys-for-sale/brand-new-unopened-lego-advent-calendar/17100348
