To go through epic food obsessions

In chops and changes but I'll fixate on a specific food and cant get enough of it until finally I get bored and stop eating it.

This week for some reason I became obsessed with porridge and have eaten 3 bowls today, nothing else.

Anyone the same?!

My DD has a wrap with butter (nothing else) every single school day for lunch since she discovered she liked them in year 2. She is now in year 8! She will also ask for them for lunch on weekends and with cooked (hot) chicken in the evenings, she doesn't like cold chicken (or anything else), in them for school. When she started Secondary I suggested she try the school lunches, she occasionally has them and her wrap Grin.

Chocolate chip brioche anything from Aldi.. I’m hiding my new obsession from DH Wink

adaisychain · 16/11/2017 15:06

1000% me,

current kick is Waitrose smoked salmon sushi wrap, costa cheese and ham toasties and crunchie blast ice creams (not all together, just to clarify!)

Allergictoironing · 16/11/2017 15:48

Fish fingers at the moment for me - has to be the Asda cod ones, baked in the oven, with home made Marie Rose sauce (salad cream, ketchup & paprika). A few weeks ago it was Seafood Sticks, can eat my way through a packet in one sitting. Other recent fads have been scrambled eggs with ham in, and poached eggs on toast.

Thinking about it, those are all high protein foods aren't they.

sunshineinabag · 16/11/2017 16:02

@StormTreader
@MonkeyJumping

Very good point - you're right, maybe it IS the body craving certain nutrients!

Right now I'm in a falafel phase. The rest of the family have had enough so all the more For me!

PhatSlag · 16/11/2017 16:07

Yes! Mine at the moment is carrots dipped in houmous.
I think I’m lazy though when it comes to food and I can’t be bothered to think of what to have so it’s easier to eat the same breakfast and lunch every day and then I skip dinner cos I can’t be arsed to think what I’d like.

SatansLittleHelper2 · 16/11/2017 16:08

Hummus.

Hummus on curry, hummus on soup, hummus on hummus. Having beans on toast for tea........the toast shall be liberally spread with thick butter and hummus along with extra blobs of hummus on the beans. And 1 extra slice of toast and hummus on the side. Yummy.

Also fresh bread and salted, president butter. Tho since I discovered using a potato peeler to curl the butter off the block I havent managed to get through a whole block in one day recently Blush

sunshineinabag · 16/11/2017 16:13

@Allergictoironing

@sunshineinabag

Don't over-do the ketchup - you need about 4-5 parts salad cream to 1 part of ketchup, paprika to taste.

Laska5772 · 16/11/2017 16:22

hummus on hummus Grin I so get this!! yum..

Did i mention the whole jars of gherkins? and those packets of chilli beetroot you can get in the co op/sainsburys , and cheese. lots of cheese..

IHaveACuntingPlan · 16/11/2017 16:27

Mince pies for me at the moment. I've just eaten two!

LakieLady · 16/11/2017 16:34

I went through a hummus phase a while ago. I particularly liked it on top of Ritz crackers. I went off it after a binge that involved almost an entire box of Ritz.

Have you noticed how eating a lot of hummus makes your farts smell like perming lotion, Satans?

I've just got over an addiction to Russian fudge yogurt. DP's shopping habits haven't caught up yet, and there's a whole tub festering in the fridge.

DaisyDukesShorts · 16/11/2017 16:39

I go through phases of prawns and seafood sticks. At the moment I'm obsessive about choux buns 😏

thelastredwinegum · 16/11/2017 16:48

This made me laugh as I read them in ordere Grin

Do you think it might be a deficiency and your body craving something? Just wondering as a lot of these seem quite healthy! Maybe your body knows what you need?

StormTreader

There might be an amount of vitamin/mineral deficiency that your body is trying to fix by making you crave foods with that in - as long as its not a kilo of gateaux, youre probably fine smile

itwillbegrandsure

Yep! Tea cakes at the moment!

ToadTheVampireThreadKiller · 16/11/2017 16:52

Popadoms with mango chutney with very very thin slices of raw onion, try it.

I will eat the same thing every day for weeks, mooli sandwich is the current one. With a sprinkling of salt.

Usually alternate with a bowl of lettuce, cucumber, tomato and spring onion with olive oil and salad cream and bread and butter for a few weeks.

Or Ryvita with real French butter and Marmite.

CaoNiMa · 16/11/2017 16:55

I do this. Every day this week for lunch I've had a Quorn 'escalope', baked beans, and a potato. I'll have exactly the same every day next week. Then never again thereafter!

MusicToMyEars800 · 16/11/2017 17:01

Homous and cheese breadstick are my current snack of choice, I have been munching this for the past 2 weeks, I sometimes change the houmous flavours, The caramelised onion one is too easy to demolish.

AlternativeTentacle · 16/11/2017 17:01

I have been fixated on jacobs cream crackers - high fibre for about 10-12 years now. With either butter [el presidente] or mature cheddar. I could eat this every day and never get bored.

nokidshere · 16/11/2017 17:05

@sunshineinabag*

Don't over-do the ketchup - you need about 4-5 parts salad cream to 1 part of ketchup, paprika to taste.

I do Mayo, tomato purée, chilli powder & lemon juice = yummmm

Strokethefurrywall · 16/11/2017 17:06

Mine is currently roasted cauliflower, I eat it with everything.
And also the thai spicy steak from one of our supermarket delis. I go so often that the woman serving just gives me a nod and gets it ready for me before I ask for it.
She must think I'm a massive red meat eating weirdo.

Braceface · 16/11/2017 17:11

Yes totally. Currently crackers with soft cheese and honey.

tehmina23 · 16/11/2017 17:12

Thank god, I thought I was the only one to get obsessed by different foods!!

At present it's healthy foods (porridge, raspberries) but when I was younger it was not.. I used to be obsessed with chocolate especially Thorntons, Galaxy; poppadums & dips, cheeses, etc etc

Swizzlesticks23 · 16/11/2017 17:14

Yep.

Porridge with banana and syrup was all I ate for three weeks.

Jacket potatos two months.

Pizza a month.

Salmon 3 weeks however it's coming back again.

I eat it till I cannot bare it !

Swizzlesticks23 · 16/11/2017 17:15

Ohhhh the caramel slices from morrisons was another .I'd have two a day everyday for months.
