To look for an alternative to Sky?

I have had Sky TV for around 8 years, and paid varying amounts for it within that time. I don't really watch that much TV, but partner loves sport, and the last two years I managed to get basic Sky + sports for £20 per month, so was happy with that.

This year Sky will not continue with this price, and so I have cancelled. All is fine, but I am missing the functions of the box such as live pause, record, catch-up etc.

I am also aware that there is a whole new world out there of box sets, series on demand, which I have never explored.

What should I be looking for? Can I get sports as well or do Sky really truly have the monopoly on them?

Advice gratefully received... 📺

How long ago did you cancel it?

It took a few weeks (and several offers) before the ‘no. I don’t want it even if it’s free conversation.’

I don't really know anything about Netflix, so that's maybe something to consider. My mobile phone is out of contract, I hadn't considered this, so thanks for the suggestion @MakeMisogynyAHateCrime

I probably cancelled a month ago, service stopped earlier this week. I've had a couple of half-hearted emails and a postal offer, but not good enough to change my mind yet.

We just have Netflix and Amazon prime now. We don’t miss the sky (or live tv, tbh).
