Yo ask if you would want me as a flatmate?

I'm thinking of renting a room as a lodger as renting outright with no gaurantor and disability is tricky and i want to save money.

I work from home as I run my own small ngo and am studying.

If I had a paid helper for some things like cleaning would you be put off? To clean my room I mean.

The running the business would be a big concern for me... I wouldn't want to live somewhere a flat mate was running a business out of it if it all goes wrong unless you've kept every single receipt for every single item you own (which I definitely haven't) your completely fucked

Yup I would never had a lodger that worked from home. Want my lodgers out of the house at least 9-5 not sitting at home with the heating on.

I would worry about someone running a business out of the property where I was the named person/tenant on the contract/deeds/mortgage and I am not sure that I could deal with someone being in the house all the time.

Although on the plus side I suppose you’d keep the cat company and might be happy to cat sit when I go away!

But still, yeah sorry having someone always on the house is really off putting.

Could you cope with a bog standard flat share? I've shared flats for about ten years and have disablities - never been a major issue, I just go for a flat with HMO/students or young professionals. Can strike a balance in terms of chores usually. Also means its 'your' space and you don't have to come in and go out at certain times etc. Usually cheapish if you go for only adequate/safe facilities rather than luxury - and I've rented without a guarantor too (haven't got one so no choice). I couldn't live in someone else's home as a lodger at all.

Another thing you could look into is staying with an elderly person. There are lots of people looking to have someone live with their elderly parent just so they aren’t alone. Not all need help, or also have careers in to help, but they can’t afford 24/7 ‘company’. You’d be ideal.

Good idea above.

I've had many able-bodied lodgers. Very few of them seemed to do any housework at all past washing their dishes.
