To think she’s being really pushy

I’m on mat leave but I need a new job so I started applying yesterday (with a heavy heart) So today I had a recruitment agency ring me about a job I would be ‘perfect for’ ( not the one I applied for) that’s interviewing today and tomorrow to start on MONDAY I said I couldn’t start that soon as I need to sort out childcare for DD and it would take a few weeks, so she phoned back saying that it’s fine to start after a few weeks and said I could interview tomorrow morning. I said I couldn’t do the morning but could do the afternoon I didn’t have anyway of getting childcare for the morning at such short notice so she says well if childcare’s your only issue bring her into me and I’ll look after her ShockHmm I said I’d let her know but Aibu to think it’s fucking weird to offer to look after someone’s baby in your office just to get your recruitment fee! I get it’s her job and all but seriously no I’m not going to come and drop off my baby with a STRANGER just for an interview.

I dunno. Sounds helpful to me!

FeelingAggrieved · 15/11/2017 16:20

That is weird but I'd be tempted to take her up on it! Let us know what you decide. 😂

MsGameandWatching · 15/11/2017 16:21

Of course it’s not helpful. Come on!

She’s trying to fill the job and get her fee, that’s all. I’ve seen desperate recruitment consultants and it’s not pretty. I used to provide admin support for a well known agency but would never take the jump to RC as it seemed the worst job in the world.

TieGrr · 15/11/2017 16:21

Maybe she doesn't want to have to ring back the company and reschedule.

Darcychu · 15/11/2017 16:39

To be fair it may have just been for the fee but its also pretty good customer service in my view, I wouldn't do it but i would be thankful for the offer seem as it would mean getting a job whether she was doing it out of greed or not.

robinR · 15/11/2017 16:39

Ask her if she could have him all day Friday and go and get a head start on your Christmas shopping

RhiannonOHara · 15/11/2017 16:40

She's obviously on a very heavy commission. And/or she's already promised the company you'll be there for interview in the morning and doesn't want to lose face.

Dozer · 15/11/2017 16:40

She must be desperate!

Hoppinggreen · 15/11/2017 16:44

Her fee could well be thousands and if she doesn't hit her targets she could lose her job so an hour looking after someone's baby is probably a small price to pay!!!
I wouldn't take her up on it OP though

coddiwomple · 15/11/2017 16:45

sounds like a desperate resourcer or junior recruiter who is being screamed at by her boss and really need to reach some target Grin

calling "greed" someone's attempt to make a living is a bit silly though Hmm

It does prove a point though. I don't know where you are are, but there are jobs around, and very difficult to fill. People moan that the job market is completely dead, it is absolutely not true!

coddiwomple · 15/11/2017 16:48

Her fee could well be thousands

It would mean that the OP is a really high flyer, the agencies get the fees, but the recruiters commissions is only a small amount of that. Many agencies cap commissions anyway (it can be a horrible business to work for)

MrsSthe3rd · 15/11/2017 16:49

It was all great service from her......until she offered to babysit. That comes across as desperate and greedy.

usualGubbins · 15/11/2017 16:51

So she's DBS checked and the office insurance is ok with children there? I thought not...
