To be completely confused by universal credit?

Maternity leave is coming to an end and about to start a part time job on minimum wage( 26 hours a week).

Have no family support to watch DS so couldn’t afford the childcare to continue with full time job. He will be in nursery two days a week.

Checked benefits calculators and was entitled to approx £44 a week child tax credit. However, we are in a universal credit area and according to calculator, are not entitled to anything under universal credit.

Does this seem right? With childcare costs will be taking home £600 a month. DP not on a huge wage but is working full time.

Impossible to answer without knowing your DP's wages and your rent and council tax. I understand why you wouldn't want to share those of course.

Yeah, that’s a tricky one.
I guess my question is, is it possible that I’d be eligible for certain benefits under the old system that I’m not eligible for under universal credit, (despite having the exact same circumstances financially)?

Like the above without knowing your exact situation it is impossible to say if this is right.

But a lot of people are finding themselves significantly worse off under universal credit than under the old system of tax credits so it is completely feasible
