to ask how enthusiastic your 13 year old ds is about school?

Most days my ds asks if he has to go to school that day, it's boring, blah, blah. He generally comes home in a happier mood but questions the point of learning about things he considers boring such as Oliver Cromwell, etc. I wonder if this is normal? He is doing well, teachers like him, got some nice friends, but I can't help worry that he should be enjoying it more.

@RedSkyAtNight

No such thing as attendance certs or similar. The children genuinely enjoy school. Everyone I speak to. It's down to the staff.

My 13yr old likes some of it but does complain it is boring too. He does say that he likes the high school much better than primary so I think he doesn't hate it. He never really moans about going and he loves the sports and sports coaching but some subjects he hates and finds difficult. He has nice friends and is doing well, I think this is a difficult year and it gets better as they start to stream their subject choices so they can pick the ones they like more.

My 13 year old DD sometimes likes school, sometimes hates it (hockey and maths are an issue) but mostly loves it (no liar here, she told me!).

Long may it continue.

My son, 13 next month, goes to school because if he didn't then he couldn't be on the football team. He's on the gifted and talented programme but has no interest in anything other than sport. He often complains he's bored and his teachers say he questions a lot of things because he feels it's too easy so he must be doing it wrong. School is something he has to put up with to do what he wants, it's a good life lesson

My DS 13 hates school, says it’s boring. From what I can see he is doing well and has friends but being a typical boy (so I’m told) does enough to get by and no more.
