To want to rip my fucking throat out?

I've got the stupid lurgy thing going round. I'm not usually such a wuss but the sore throat is genuine agony. I'm almost crying. I've taken codeine, paracetamol and ibuprofen and I'm sucking strepsils like they are going out of fashion. Yet I'm still waking up with every swallow. I just need some fucking sleep.

Honestly, if someone offered to take me out with a shot gun, at the moment I might accept.

Laryngitis here and cough fits during the night. Ice-cream works. Ginger and cinnamon tea, good quality honey, not the sugar shit from the supermarket as it has antiseptic and antibiotic effect too.

Thanks for the suggestions. The gargling, spray and lozenges got me through the day. Hopefully they'll also help me to sleep.

Strepsils are cheap, get strefen! The only ones I've used which made a difference 👍

Id happily shove all manner of stuff up my bum right now. I'm pretty desperate!

This could look a bit iffy taken out of context Grin

Gargle with Peroxyl mouthwash (Colgate) it is brilliant for sore throats, mouth ulcers and hot food burns! We have been using it for years and it never fails.

What you need are tyrozets. Available over the counter, they are wonderful. They completely numb your throat.

No one ever seems to have heard of them though.

Follow up with Chloraseptic spray if needed.

I feel your frustration. I have a sinus infection which has meant a banging headache for 4 days so far. I want to shoot myself in the face. And I can only take paracetamol due to being very pregnant Sad

I feel for you OP, I have a huge ulcer on the side of my tongue at the moment and can barely eat/sleep.

I have found gargling warm salt water has also helped ease the pain, something apparently to do with the bacteria - but i find it helps alleviate the pain for a bit.

I second tyrozets as they do really work most of the time.

I had this one time when I couldn’t even swallow which wasn’t good with a 2 month old ebf baby. I went begging to the doctor for something (knowing that it wouldn’t be antibiotics because I was pretty sure it was a virus) but they gave me some steroids to bring the swelling down so that I could at least eat something

I had laryngitis twice and once it ulcerated too. Thought I would die. More painful than childbirth and lasted 7 days. The doctor recommended difflam rinse rather than the spray, it numbed my throat enough to swallow water and get Calpol down my throat. It was the most Horrific pain.
