To ask for advice on night nappies with massive capacity?

Help! I need the wisdom and experience of mn here please.
My DD will be 2 soon and is currently leaking through her nappy every night. This means I'm washing vest, sleepsuit, sleeping bag and often bottom sheet every day which is getting exhausting.
She does wee a lot overnight depite rarely drinking in the 2 hours before bed, but the problem is compounded by her being a front sleeper so all the wee ends up at the very front of the nappy. The leak is almost always over the top of the waistband or at the hips rather than around legs.
We are currently using Aldi nappies as pampers leaked previously. She is in the right size for her weight (5+) we tried going up a size but they were too baggy around the legs and all the wee fell straight out the legholes instead.
I've tried double nappy, and that didn't work either. Tried Lidl brand, they leaked even more than Aldi.

I know cloth would be one possible solution but we had terrible damp and mould problems due to drying cloth nappies over winter so we had to give those up and I sold everything and don't really want to go back to that again, especially bleaching the mould off the walls every week.

Can anyone recommend a disposable nappy with a massive capacity or maybe a super high waistband? I looked at pyjama Pant things but they seem less absorbent than a normal nappy?
Or would using a disposable insert type thing work?

I would recommend the Tesco nappies. Use them on my DD and not had any problems. Only ever used pampers activefit on DS as everything else leaked at night but every single time my DD has had a pampers nappy on at night it's leaked (above the waistband).

LoveProsecco · 14/11/2017 17:30

I think Boots own brand are good as a nighttime alternative

TotemIcePole · 14/11/2017 17:34

I found Tesco nappies really good as well.

Kochicoo · 14/11/2017 17:39

I bought some lanolised "wool soakers"(little wool shorts) from Amazon or EBay and put them over a disposable nappy (or two). I seem to recall that they weren't completely foolproof but really, really helped.

Waggily · 14/11/2017 17:39

We had this problem with Aldi nappies at about 2 and found Morrisons or Boots were fine.

Babyiwantabump · 14/11/2017 17:43

You could put a waterproof wrap over the top to stop leaks?

ElspethTascioni · 14/11/2017 17:46

I use Moltex nappies (buy them off the Internet) and they have always been absorbent enough overnight. They are more expensive but if you use them for overnight only maybe not too bad?

Or could you try something like a motherease airflow wrap over a disposable? So keep the damp in but not ending up with loads of bulky washable nappies to launder.

But a dehumidifier? They're worth their weight in gold for drying washing/ preventing damp

Pampers pull up over a normal pampers baby dry

CakeNinja · 14/11/2017 17:51

We tried many many brands when dealing with super soaker ds. Sainsbury's Little Ones were the ones that worked best for him. Although was about 3 years ago now so can't be positive that they're still the same. Good luck.

GrouchyKiwi · 14/11/2017 17:52

I found Pampers Active Fit or Baby Dry great for our eldest overnight. With DD2 we used cloth, but DD3 is very wet overnight so we go with Pampers and a nappy wrap like this. They dry very quickly.

DearTeddyRobinson · 14/11/2017 17:52

We had this problem when DC1 was about that age. What really helped was adding a disposable bamboo nappy liner to the night time nappy. You buy a roll of them, they tear off like loo roll, then bin with the nappy.

We used Pampers btw.

7to25 · 14/11/2017 17:53

Sorry I didn't reply about the hole. J made a hole in the waterproof layer before putting the second nappy over it.

WhyamIBoredathome · 14/11/2017 17:57

kochicoo I was wondering about wool soakers but wasn't sure if that would work with disposables. If it does I'd definitely give that a go.

I feel your pain. My ds used to leak every night. I find pampers active fit nappy pants are the best but occasionally they leak too once in a while. Aldi nappies were the worst.

RibenaMonsoon · 14/11/2017 18:04

Which papers have you tried? I found DS had leaking issues with baby dry (how ironic Wink ) but premium protection active fit work wonders for him and this kid drinks water and wees like it's going out of fashion. You can register on papers website and often they will send you freebies to test. I hope you find something that works.

Oysterbabe · 14/11/2017 18:04

We use these overnight and they're the only ones that keep her dry. We use pampers the rest of the time.

That should be pampers not papers. Bloody Samsung auto correct Sad

Kochicoo · 14/11/2017 19:05

Yes OP, I'd recommend. I also found the Tesco nappies pictured above the best. Good luck.

TroelsLovesSquinkies · 14/11/2017 19:56

We used to buy a pack of the next size up and put one over the top of the normal sized nappy. Worked really well.

Maplestaple · 14/11/2017 20:09

I've used Aldi nappies for the last 3&1/2 years but recently changed to asda as they started leaking all the time. Asda are much better and more my DS says they are more comfortable too.

hendricksyousay · 14/11/2017 20:24

Put two on or a incontinence pad inside the nappy . It get some bigger Tesco ones over the top of a smaller one ?

whereareyousleep · 14/11/2017 20:52

Asda own brand are the only ones that don't leak for us and my ds is 4 so does a huge amount of wee at night. Pampers and also are the worst they leak every time here.

AnnabellaH · 14/11/2017 20:56

Potty training?

Ds isn't even 6m and is about to go into size 5 Sad I'm terrified. Do they make size 7/8??

poppoppophop · 14/11/2017 20:59

DS (3) is in Huggies Drynites Pyjama Pants size 4-7 years. They're lovely and big and don't leak. You could try those over the top.

EatTheChocolateTeapot · 14/11/2017 21:01

Fleece doesn't get cold when wet and dries really fast. Can be useful until you find a nappy that works.
