So me and a and a red mini got into a head to head this morning – and I don’t think I was in the wrong.

I drove into the car park first, red mini followed. I see a space A (the one I ended up in) so I go for it. Make manoeuvres roughly like the ones in black in order to drive through into space. My car is a long wheel base so can’t just turn into a space in right car parks.

Red mini goes up other row. I presume they are going to park in space B.

No, actually what she was wanting to do was reverse back into space A. Except I was driving into it having completed my manoeuvre.

She kicks off at me for stealing her space – except I didn’t as it was where I was going all along and she was behind me!

Who was right and who was wrong?

I was reversing into a car space at our local supermarket recently and as I was 3/4 ways in I saw a car drive into the space behind me driving at speed obviously planning to drive through. He had to slam on his breaks and reverse back. I always reverse in and on at least three occasions I have noticed people in the cars behind actually sitting there waiting for me to return from shopping and when I leave the space they can drive through to exit. I reckon one guy waited about 20 minutes because he was walking to his car as I was putting DC in the trolley. When I started doing the school run I couldn't believe the amount of driver's who cannot reverse. It's a basic manoeuvre during the driving test so it's odd how so many can't do it. I love the car parks with the concrete diamond kerbs to prevent driving through.

I reverse park like a dream but still drive through when I can and it's safe.

I have one of those parking cameras on the back of my car. I love it! Really helps with reversing in or out of parking bays safely.
