To hate middle lane hoggers on the motorway?

Just that really! It's so infuriating when drivers have no clue how to drive on the motorway. I know there are worse things to get stressed about but it does drive me bonkers.

I think there needs to be better education about 'zipper merging' because there are driving dinosaurs out there who persist in their own methods of 'punishing' drivers who don't follow their own outdated and incorrect driving methods.

TV adverts perhaps? With all the roadworks we have now there needs to be an understanding of how best to cope with them and a willingness to co-operate to get everybody through them as quickly and safely as possible.

OhPoop

Not sure how/why you would think I was an arse unless you can read my mind whilst I'm sitting in my car silently judging you?? It's not as if I'm trying to block the road. I'm just waiting my turn...

I guess this zipper merging must work though. I seriously don't get it though. If there's only room for one car at a time, how can it matter which car?

@TheGoldenBowl I can't speak for @OhPoop, but I simply assumed their comment "I would think you were an arse, sorry!" was referencing your earlier post where you said "The later you do this, the more of an entitled, queue-jumping arse you are" - not actually just calling you an arse outright (IYSWIM?!)

As to your question about why it is faster. I think it is to do with the fact that everyone is driving at slower speed, but continually moving, not bunching up "to teach a lane 2-er a lesson" or something like that, which causes braking and then ripple-back effects? This clip shows it in action:

The links I gave all explained that it was Highways Departments doing independent testing and surveying, so I think it's fair to say they have a vested interest in roads flowing freely?

Golden, as Shotsfired said from your first post!
