To not want the cat on my lap?

Every time I sit down the cat jumps up! I'm very fond of the cat but he squashes my lap, leaves ginger hair on me and means I can't shift position.

Am I being unreasonable? Grin

Oh and there is a special lap blanket just for her.

Couldn't help but think of THIS pic when I read this thread. Grin

And YANBU. As much as I love my cats, it is a PITA when they want to sit on your lap.

Regarding your lap by the way... where does it go when you stand up? Confused

YAB highly U.
As a servant of a cat, surely you must know that if your feline boss demands to sit on your lap you comply immediately. If you start to enjoy it, you must also know he will get off immediately and give you a dirty look 👀.

Yes of course YABU. And I say this is a dog lover, not a cat lover, but still... Honestly, what did you expect? If you have a dog or a cat you need to learn your place and behavioural expectations. Your role is to fulfill their expectations - not the other way around Grin

This is my adopted ragdoll, he will try and get on your lap if you are doing up shoes!

YABU I wish my cat would do this. Had him a couple of months but all he does is skulk around the place, only approaching his staff if he wants food.

Cleanermaidcook · 13/11/2017 22:09

This is my owner. See she looks cute and sleepy but she just hissed at me when I dared to try n move my leg which has pins and needles - and I need a wee and aren't allowed to move!

YABU. Being 'with cat' gets you out of lots of things in this house (fetching stuff, turning radios off, answering the phone etc).
A blanket is appreciated. Preferably a fluffy (but not at all protective) one that soft pads can enjoy while sharp claws dig into your thighs...

TheWhyteRoseShallRiseAgain · 13/11/2017 22:10

Just wait until you get a Bathcat. She will walk round and round the edge until it's suitably full, then sit on your shoulder dipping her paws (turning so all 4 are done) and occasionally the tip of her tail. If you want to confuse your Bathcat shave your legs Grin

YANBU, I love my cat and enjoy when she sits in my lap, but she's also pretty independent and chooses great times to want to sit with me. She generally likes to cuddle in the mornings before I start my day or at night when I'm settled on the couch. If I'm up and about she's content to just follow me around or sit next to me instead of on top of me. If I'm sitting comfortably with a blanket though she's all in.

bigtapdancingpimp · 13/11/2017 22:22

I once sat through two whole episodes of Pimp My Ride as I couldn't reach the remote control Sad

Thesmallthings · 13/11/2017 22:40

Is rarther a bath cat then a toilet cat...

She'll try and sit in your lap whilst perched on the thrown. And if you push her iff. Shell A- retry a 100 times
B- jump on to your shoulders

Or do both.

Dr Mewler usually lies across me, she must measure about a yard from front paws to tail. Best excuse not to get the tea and DH has to provide full waiter service
