OCD kitten fleas!

Just adopted the most gorgeous little kitten but unfortunately she has fleas. Took her to the vets first thing this morning who sprayed her with frontline. I've just combed as many fleas out as I possibly could.

I have a small dd and I have really bad ocd regarding chemicals etc so I really don't want to use a spray in the house. Is it a necessity with wooden floors? I have carpets upstairs but the kitten has never been up there.

Get a flea trap first, if you've only just got a Cat you might be lucky. We get fleas on the cats fairly often but seldom have to treat the whole house. The trap will tell you whether you have a big infestation.

We adopted 2 kittens last year and they had unwanted guests.
As they were underweight and young we couldn't use flea treatment.
I sat a bathed them and went through their fur with a nit comb - worked a treat. If you don't want or can't manage to bath the cat then dip the nit comb in soapy water and comb away.
Good luck

Minx did you treat the house too?

If you want natural treatments - lavender and tea tree. Spray bottle which you can get from Wilko etc, fill with water, 50 drops of each oil. It works.

Indorex spray everywhere in the house. Otherwise they will just come back.

The cheap flea spray doesn't work IME. Indorex is very good though and treats a large area if you buy the big can and gives protection for months. Spray all fabrics, particularly carpets and rugs. Make sure you lift and move things like sofas too.

I'm stressing about the fleas but these moments make it worth the stress!

Kittens shouldn't leave their mothers until they're 12 weeks old, so this poor little thing is really going to need your love and attention.

Kittens can die from blood loss if they have a bad flea infestation, so it's important you deal with this.

I wouldn't bath her: shampoo isn't going to get rid of the fleas, it won't help and if she's already under the weather it'll make her cold. Take her to a vet ASAP and follow their advice. Brushing and combing her won't get rid of the fleas: look through her fur around her ears and tail, and under her armpits, where they're likely to hide, and when you find them you can crack them between your fingernails to kill them (they make a very satisfying noise). Hoover every day to collect flea eggs (they lay eggs in carpets and furnishings) so you don't get reinfested.

when we got our kitten she had fleas. She was 6 months so older than yours.

We used Advantage spot ons, and have ever since without a problem. You can get it from Amazon at a reasonable price.

We only have carpets on the stairs, so just vaccuumed and mopped everyday for a few weeks. Used the nit comb on her every day. I also washed every soft furnishing that could go in the washing machine, aswell as bedding and any clothes that weren't safely in the wardrobe (husbands floordrobe) on 60 degrees. I have a handheld steam cleaner with I used on anything else like curtains, armchairs etc.

Seemed to work no problem.

I've vacuumed the whole house with a gtech air ram and boil washed cushion covers, blankets and bedding.

I've picked dying fleas off of the kitten so hopefully the end is near.
